COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Mikkeller’s single hop brew is a fantastic way to familiarise with different varieties. First hop tasted and double thumbs up for this beer. Appearance: orange pale . thick persistent brown head. Aromas: caramel. yeast. slightly citrusy. pine. taste: slightly bitter with long bitter after taste. good balance between sweetness and bitterns.

weark (431) - Morges, SWITZERLAND - DEC 12, 2013
Bottle from Erzbiershof - hazy amber color, with small beige head - aroma is caramalt, light citrus, light spices, pine - flavor is cramalt, pine, resinous, hints of yeast and citrus - Medium body, medium bitterness, dry, long bitter dry finish - not my favourite hops but interesting to try

Bitterness and herby quality, some grass and little cereal sweetness. But as all of these single hop beers: onion, fennel and rubber. Somewhat brutal, somewhat good.

I was looking forward to Trying Mikkeler, since it gets so many praises of being good and innovative brewer. I was excited to find It’s Hop Series at a reasonable price. Unfortunately my anticipation and excitement was not matched by high standards that everyone praises Mikkeller to live by. Everyone in supply chain is to blame… Mikkeller does not have production dates, Distributor Trying to sell the product no matter what, Binny’s not having balls to stand up to its supplier and let them know that it is out of date and no good. I was pissed… All of them were old and stale, therefore complete waste of time and money. Every time I come across bad batch I swear to stop buying anything that has no dates… I just might do that, since there are plenty of other choices… Going Back to Mikkeller Hop Series… All of them Poured A Shade Lighter Or A Shade Darker of Muddy Brown. All of them Had Smaller or Larger Floaters. Huge Head, Decent Lacing. Earthy, Stale Hops Aroma. Tasted pretty much the same: Earthy, Malt, Stale Hops. Moderate Bitter Finish… Pass It Unless You Know It Is Fresh…

Bottle. Hazy deep golden color with a foamy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit and spruce. Dry taste with medium bitterness and some sourness.

Bottle from Vino Wines. Murky amber body with a thick off-white head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of grain, pale malt, grass. Earthy flavours - rocket, wood and grass. Nice bitterness and a light spicy finish. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. I think Magnum would work really alongside a hop with a tangy, fruity profile.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This dark amber beer has rich sherry and orange marmalade flavours, pine and grapefruit with warming citrus on the finish.

330ml bottle at home. This one is sweeter and maltier than the others I have tried in this series. Deeper amber body with fluffy white head with again caramel malts and orangey citrussy hops dominating the aromas. Moderate dry bitter hop finish. Satisfying smooth malty mouthfeel.

A single hop, magnum is one of my favorites. Super bitter but not as dry as the others. The taste is a little sweeter and it is smoother. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy copper pour with an off-white head. Aromas of citrus peel mainly. Flavor has lots of citrus peel as well with some earthy/pine notes.
