COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This dark amber beer has rich sherry and orange marmalade flavours, pine and grapefruit with warming citrus on the finish.

330ml bottle at home. This one is sweeter and maltier than the others I have tried in this series. Deeper amber body with fluffy white head with again caramel malts and orangey citrussy hops dominating the aromas. Moderate dry bitter hop finish. Satisfying smooth malty mouthfeel.

A single hop, magnum is one of my favorites. Super bitter but not as dry as the others. The taste is a little sweeter and it is smoother. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy copper pour with an off-white head. Aromas of citrus peel mainly. Flavor has lots of citrus peel as well with some earthy/pine notes.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2014 330ml bottle from Valhalla’s Goat. Hazy reddish amber brown, reasonable head. Dry grain hop aroma. Dry biscuit resin hop flavour. Bitter aftertaste. A decent IPA but not my favourite hop.

Draft.

33 cl bottle.
Pours hazy orange color with a large head. Aroma of very resiny hops and caramel malts, the hop profile is quite aggressive, some grass and herbs also. Flavor of hops, hay, some pale malts, caramel and goose berris, lingering citric fruits on the aftertaste. Bitter palate, sticky sweetish finish. Again, a bit too stuffy and I didn’t quite like the hop profile.

from Erzbierschof - slightly amber-orange beer with a modest head retention; hoppy notes of plastic and grapefruit; a good malt backbone, light astringency, herbal and spicy bitterness; quite dry with more plastic reminiscence - not convincing
