This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

330mL bottle generously sent across the pond by stobbe74. The bottle pours copper with gold edges and a bit hazy when the yeasty sediment is involved. The hop laden liquid supports a near white sort of head. The aroma has modest notes of spices, floral and really little else seems to be going on other than a sense of the base beer’s sweet pilsner like maltiness. The taste starts floral with hops and rolls quickly into spicy hoppiness and a modest level of bitterness. Not as black licorice like spicy as I was expecting.

Bottle thanks to Aaron, hop beer number 9! Pour was hazy orange with white head, aroma has notes of slight toffee, biscuit, touch of orange and grass as well. Taste is fairly weak and carb is too strong with notes of sweet biscuit, toffee, hint of orange, goes into a slightly bitter and dry finish with some notes of grass and pine.
