This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottled. Poured clear medium orange with a short beige head. The aroma picked up juicy orange meat, pineapple, and pine resin, with sweeter caramel and biscuity support.. solid balance. The flavor found similar malts plus a faint kiss of honey at the core.. orange, grapefruit, and perfumey bitterness around.. the hops were a bit mudddled.. some oxidation joined on the moderately bitter finish. Medium-bodied and a touch too malty on the palate.. just the right carbonation.. OK overall.

11.2 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy orangey amber with a small beige head. Aroma of subtle mandarin oranges, some grapefruit and resinous hops - caramel malt to back. Flavour of various tropical fruits, such as pineapple, mango and passionfruit, with some oranges, and resinous hops. Medium astringency on the finish. One of the better renditions of the series, despite the ratings.

The aroma has fairly fruity(blackberry?) hops, along with some grassy yeast. As I sip, I taste some caramel malt, with an oak aftertaste. This is a quality beer that tastes very good.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers.

(Draught at Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 5 July 2012) Amber colour with brief, frothy, beige head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, black-currant and grainy malt. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of caramel, orange peel, piney hops and hints of rubber. Quite bitter finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Very nice.
