COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle of 33 cl, hazy amber beer with an orange glow. Large and the term off-white foamy head. The scent has notes of caramel, citrus, eksotuisk fruit and grass. The taste is sweet with notes of caramel, citrus and grass. Moderately bitter finish.

Dark copper, huge beige head (As a side note, does anybody chuckle to themselves when they say some thing about a huge head? I know itís juvenile, but I canít help myself.) Very grassy hop aroma. Light, clean and crisp. Some earthy malt. Tasty and very sessionable (even at 6.8%)

Bottle. Hazy dark golden with a creamy white head. Musty fruity aroma and taste with notes of pineapple and a caramel taste to the finish.

Bottle from Ledgers Liquors. Pours orange copper with a three finger beige head and a light citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with a musty sticky bitter hop finish. Not my favorite in this series.

Palme (3546) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 1, 2012
0.33l bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen shared with ClubGonzo and the rest of Bergen Tasting Crew. The Nugget is a hazy orange beer with a light creamy and bubbly off-white head. Aroma is light stingy, notes of pine, some strawberries and hints of thin caramel. Oily to watery mouthfeeling, average to soft carbonation and itís medium-bodied. Tastes quite bitter from the start. Notes of grass, perhaps some herbal tones?, ends mildly bitter with a lasting bitter aftertaste. Nice enough, but perhaps a bit blend.

33 cl. Hazy copper brown with a lasting sticky foam. Aroma is toffee, orange molasses, biscuit and tea leaf. Taste is the same plus some peppery resin, wood and pith on the finish. Near-medium body is smoothly carbonated and well balanced.

Another very good beer from this series. Pours cloudy with a copper tint. Very good example of a quaility IPA, shame they retired the series.
