This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Pours a dark amber with a decent head. Aroma has some typical IPA-hop smell to it, but with some sour-like odor. Taste is decidedly malty for an IPA and a bit smoky. A sticky feel after the swallow and a bit of a funky aftertaste. Not my favorite IPA from these guys but fun to try the different hops.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours golden amber with a tiny bit of sediment and a white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit as well as some caramel malt. Flavour is caramel, citrus, and grapefruit – with a dry finish.

Bottle from Geers

Head: small, off white
Colour: orangy amber
Smell: lemongrass, touch of ginger, bit grassy, some artificial lemon
Taste: bitter creamy malty start, a bit pepperish, some faint hopy flavour, mostly hop bitterness actually, sweet in the end, quite thick for a IPA , but good

Bottle. Pours deep Gold/Amber. Aroma of fruity hop (similar to apricot and grass) and light malt. Flavor is much the same and finishes with a smooth, balanced bitter. Moutfeel is medium body with high carbonation. Overall, Good Stuff!

Nice amber pour with a cream head. Nose is bitter, sticky, malty, pine, and citrus. Very nice on the palate, bitter hops, lightly fruity, and earthy.

Not bad. Dark amber orange. Cloudy. Piney floral hops. Warm spicey flavor from the hops too. Serving: Bottle

Aroma bland, appearance golden-orange, taste is very hoppy, but not so fruity, palate is bitter hops but not too harsh. Overall good beer, but not very complex.

Big beige head. Clear amber body with carbonation. Deep tropical fruit and pineapple aroma with wooden spicy notes. Dry pineapple and gasoline taste with resiny wooden spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, slightly mealy mouthfeel. Dry spicy peppery tropical fruit aftertaste with pineapple and grape notes. Interesting, drinkable, but with some off taste that I can’t identify, and don’t like that much. Still a good and richly flavoured beer. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Meh...a decent beer at best. Aroma mostly caramel malt with notes of hay. Pour was a nice enough medium gold with a one finger off white head. Taste was heavy on the caramel with an underlying very green hoppiness. A mix of grass and burnt hay. Weird combination, though I was happy to pick out any hop flavor in the beer. Finish was slightly bitter and sticky sweet. Decent carbonation.

33cl bottle. brewed 2012-04-26, best before 2014-04-26. No batch info. orange colour with a medium big white had that settled down fast. Aroma is fresh and laden with tropical fruits. Notes of caramel. Flavour is mild. Some tropical fruits, but more malts. Notes of bread and yeast again. Some sweet notes.
