This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Pours dark orange with white head. Smells of caramely grain and light pine. The taste is sweet and grainy with a modest dry herbal bitter and very light fruit. There is a lingering dried herb bitter that is not excessive but still hearty. Due to a little adding the hops seem mellowed and not highly distinguishable. More of a secondary hop there is nothing super characteristically unique to stand out but it has a nice roundness.

330 ml @ Yngwies, all 19 varieties of single hop beers tasted at the same day in September 2011. Slightly unclear, deep golden body with a dense off-white head. A mild fruity aroma with caramel malt. Flavor is bitter and has more fruit, like slightly acidic fruit like lemon and fresh peaches. A bit different than many of the other single hop, almost complex and very pleasant.
