This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle, 0.33l. Murky amber brown color with large frothy tan-like head, good lacing, many yeast particles floating and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of grapefruit, ripe passion fruit, grapes and fresh mowed grass. Taste starts with moderate sweet and rich malty with fruity, resinous and herbal following, mouthfeel is spicy, while finish is heavy bitter with average durable aftertaste. Full body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Almost perfect...

Sampled as part of a hop education class. Much more spicy in taste than Bravo or Williamette. Not as smooth as the Nugget. The spicy note appears to be ginger and pepper. As a beer, not as good as B, but maybe a tick better than W. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330mL bottle generously sent across the pond by stobbe74. The bottle pours copper with gold edges and a bit hazy when the yeasty sediment is involved. The hop laden liquid supports a near white sort of head. The aroma offers spiciness and then I pick up some grapefruit followed by bitter smelling almost pine resiny hops. The taste has a nice wad of spicy goodness and then picks up faint levels of both grapefruit citrus like hops and a bit of floral too.

Very cloudy copper with a frothy, dirty head. Sticky, lace blankets the glass. The aroma is earthy bitterness with a strong malt backbone, and though the hops dominate, it is balanced. Smooth fruity bitterness with a strong maltiness characterize the flavor, though the beer is definitely hop forward. Strong but still smooth.

Gold pour. White head. Aroma is nice and spicy, earthy, light pine hops. Good caramel notes, lightly bitter hops. Good!

Nugget hops... citrus and green on the nose, orange and grapefruit on the palate and a long(ish) finish. Oh, and the beer is excellent.

from Erzbierschof - pretty clear dark orange beer with a poor head retention; aroma of tea and horse stable; a good malt backbone, light sweetness, assertive and solidly bitter; dry and long aftertaste of tea, herbs, almonds and an increasing never ending bitterness - very interesting

Unclear honey-amber beer with a tan head. Lots of fresh and sweet fruit and green raw hops. Nice flavours but they are a bit weak.

bottle... pours a really dark orange, great nice tope head, great retention and lacing, looks great... nice aroma, awesome sweet notes of pineapple with a bit of grassy hops, a bit of molasses, this is great... the taste is pretty decent, but loses a lot of the sweet/fruit notes on the nose, mostly the hops on the taste, still pretty successful
