COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

33cl bottle, served in Shaker. Pours amber with medium off-white frothy head. Some sediments. Herbal aroma with hints of candy, slightly yeasty. The flavour is caramelish and grassy, with nice earthy hops in the back. Good balance overall. Medium body, average carbonation. A soft IPA, very easy to drink.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Valkendorfsgate. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, malt, caramel and hints of citrus and pine and some earthy notes. Medium sweet with a pleasantly bitter finish. Medium body and slightly soft carbonation. Well balanced and quite easy to drink. Quite nice IPA, smooth and enjoyable.

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy dark orange colour with a creamy beige medium head. Fruity and hoppy aroma of lots of grapefruits, resin and some spices, lemon and ammonia. The flavour is more fruity with sweet and sour berries. In addition there’s some caramel, wet cardboard, leather and almost roasted tones in the end. Pretty nice. Soft and slick mouth feel, and has a lingering medium bitterness. A bit faint aroma but is a flavourful and interesting IPA.

Bottle, thanks to Leighton, at the 500 miles tasting in the Sham, 23/03/13. Hazed dark amber with a thin off white head that clears to the edge and leaves a film. Nose is floral hops, mineral tones, light caramel. Taste comprises bitter hops, caramel malt, sugars, dark over ripened oranges. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish with a fairly aggressive level of bitterness. Ok but not my favourite in the series.

Bottle at the 500 Miles Tasting, the Sham. Pours clear copper with a fine, creamy cap. Toasty pine in the nose, hints of dried out brown bread. Medium sweet flavor, dry caramel, pine, bread, leaves, toasty sugar. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Toasty bread to finish, lightly toasted and aged pine, hints of alcohol and brown sugar. So so.

Bottle, february 9th 2013. hazy dark orange body, nice lasting big white head. Aroma of caramel, anis and pine, taste is grassy with citrus, peach and honey. High bitterness, grassiness seems to stay through the whole beer into the crisp aftertaste. Nice one.
