This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

12oz bottle shared amongst friends. Another one opened along side others from the Single Hop series. I found this one to be very typical of most IPA’s. Nothing really stood out (bite, sweet, etc). Just a good drinking IPA.

330ml bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a clear dark orange with about a finger of white head. Aroma is mostly herbal with some citrus and caramel. Taste is light bitter. Caramel, herbal and very slight citrus. Medium bodied with a somewhat sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, pretty good. I’m now a fan of the palisade hop.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers.

Orange to amber colour, large to moderate head, slightly off-white. Surprisingly moderate aroma, not unpleasant in any way, but there’s just too little of it. Hints of dust and tobacco. The flavour has also notes of dust and tobacco, The bitterness is okay, but the flavour has not much else going for it.

Di un ottimo colore ambrato con buona schiuma persistente. Al naso molto hoppy, mentre in bocca il Palisade vien più coperto dal malto. Buon palato...

Lovely golden colour with a nice and lasting head. The smell after pouring it is quite lovely. Taste is bitter as expected and it's a dry aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle - bottle date 22/03/2011. Pours deep orange/light amber with creamy white head. Aroma of caramel and peach (due to loss of freshness?). Medium body with clear greenish bitter undertone and some sweetness as well. Taste is that of pink grapefruit. Not as outspoken as other hops and Mikkeller IPAs.
