This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

As goes for all the Hop Series beers I’ve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Simcoe has that typical aroma which for me always smells of conserved peaches. Nice hoppy taste. Rather short finish, but nice IBU that fit the character of the beer well.

Got bottle cheap due to exparation date. Pours a redish copper tone. Lots of sediment. Aroma is not very strong, probably due to it not being frash. Taste is bitter, some grass. Also some roasted malts.

Fruitier than expected. Pretty nice balance on this one, with the flavor ever so slightly overperforming the aroma. Had this last week - had the Russian River Simcoe pale ale last night...while I prefer the RR, due to the fact it showcases the hop better...this was nice too."

Bottle to glass. A cloudy amber-orange with a thick head. Very hoppy aroma with a little sweetness hiding in the background. Full mouth, medium carbonation. Hops, caramel, and grapefruit. Finishes with an alcohol tingle and hops bitter that lingers. Mmmm... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark rust orange with heavy sediment and whick tan head. Aroma is full of dark fruit malts. Taste is very malty with dark fruit, caramel, grapefruit and hops. A light bitter hop aftertaste but not overwhelming.

Weak fruty aroma, not so pleasant also a bit of yeast! Looks great foam stays and cristal clear. Taste starts as nice hoppy, but after a second only bitterness stays. Too much greapfruit. No need to try another one!

Bottle from Erzbierschof / Hazy amber color, small offwhite head / pine, apricot jam, passionfruit aroma but the aroma is fading / flavor is malty, apricot jam and pine / Medium body, medium high bitterness, dry, good carbonation, dry malty bitter finish / not a lot of hops aroma and flavor, probably not a fresh bottle, I expected more for this one, very disappointed
