COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Sampled on 12/3/2011. This IPA pours a medium orange color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is caramel, fruity, grapefruity and herbal. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity, sweet and caramel. The hops are grapefruity and piney. Medium to high bitterness. Decent carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours medium amber with huge fluffy white head. Aroma is orange, tropical fruit, citrus, pine, and some woodiness. Taste is delicious simcoe hops with plenty of fruit, citrus, and pine. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. This is an excellent IPA.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2012 Bottle@Præstemosen. Slight haze copper medium body. Fresh red grapefruite flavours. Low bitter finish. Seventh in a row of the Mikkellers series. Best so far. Retasted one year after. It has lost a lot of its flavour.

Bottle. Pours with a clear orange to amber hued body with a thick, off-white head. Good lace with pretty decent retention as well (same appearance descriptor for all of the beers in this series). Aromas are candied christmas fruit, evergreen, pineapple and tropical fruit. Flavors are papaya, floral, fruity, dank and pine. Medium bubbles, clean bitterness, really dry. One of my favorites in this series.

Picked a few bottles form Mikkeller, tried the Hop Series. This one is also very good. Pours with a big head but is a excellent IPA

Aroma: spices (pepper), earthiness, and some pine. A bit odd considering the citrus power of Simcoe hops, but the age may be a factor in this. Appearance: dark redish-orange. Reminds me of the color of 70s carpet or upholstery. Moderate head retention leaves thin wisps of bubbles across the surface. Taste: caramel malt and piney hops give way to some citrus before mild alcohol finishes the show. Palate: medium bodied. medium-high carbonation. Overall: Best of the single hop series I’ve had so far, but I wish I had it fresher.

A great showcase for the Simcoe hop. What a great idea this series is. Orange citrus in the aroma, in the taste. A bit puckering, quite the IPA.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours amber with a slight beige head. True cat piss aroma. Med body. Flavor is toffee and piss/pine. Brilliantly bitter.
