This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottled, and probably quite old. Hazy amber color. Decent head, mediocre retetion. Some earthyness and caramel upfront. Quite bitter towards the end, stays for some time.

Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a lively pour and a thick foamy off-white head that burns away gradually. Patchy lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, fruit and hops. Medium body with flavors of grainy malt, dark fruit and earthy hops. The finish is fruity with a short hoppy aftertaste. I assume this bottle is older despite being bought recently, but it is tough to blame the store and not the brewer for not providing dating. Decent overall.

0.33 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Dark amber color. Aromas of raisiny caramel, toffee, black currant leaves and menthol. Taste of toffee, raisins, caramel, menthol and black currant leaves. Full body. Fairly similar to Hop Series Galena, just more menthol and black currant.

Bottle (BB 04/14) from BarleyWine, CPH - amber pour with medium off-white head. Aroma and taste is sweet fruity and malty, spicy hop bite and medley of citrus and tropical fruits on the palate, caramel malty, with nice mouhfeel. Very good.

330ml bottle from Valhalla’s Goat. Hazy reddish amber brown, good foamy head. Spicy woody resin grain hop aroma. Dry soapy lemon biscuit hop flavour. Bitter hoppy aftertaste. Good but not outstanding member of the single hop series.

Hazy orange brown with a ton of sediment and a little ring. Big caramel malts in the nose. Taste is caramel and resinous. Big bitter after, fairly sweet and dry. Okay. Maybe a bit past prime.

bottle. Deep amber with one finger head. Sweet malty body. Similar to the Galena with quite a bit of citrus, but a little more bitterness.

Un poco flojo este lúpulo. ..pero no esta mal...quizás demasiado turbia la cerveza. .pero bien balanceada. ..

Bottle. Unclear deep orange with a thick good lacing foamy off white head. Aroma is citrus, dry grass, melon, peach, caramel. Taste is medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Long bitter hoppy finish.

Reduced to half off, I should know better than to spend my coin on old beer by now. Copper dead yeast soup with a slowly fading large tan topper. Aroma of caramel, amber, biscuit, grassy hops and some peach. Taste is bready and floral with caramel, wort and stalky notes. Aggressively bitter, I don’t like this hop all on its own very much.
