Pours a very unique, opaque mahogany with a huge 3 finger, off white head that lingers around. Not much lacing and almost no carbonation. The nose is very hoppy with a surprisingly high amount of yeast and malt. Tropical fruits are very much present here with a slight touch of caramel. The mouth is very bitter, but not an overpowering bitter. The hops in this series are definitely citrus hops. A lot of grapefruit and lemon. There is a malt presence, but it’s subtle. Not a huge beer, but a slow sipper none the less. After this beer warmed up, it took on a lot of barleywine characteristics. Very malty and yeasty with a lot of dark fruits.

Tap. Minimal light tan head; very murky brown orange. Faintly pungent hop aromas, grapefruit, and restrained. Flavor is similar, with grapefruit and woody hops. Medium body.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

12oz bottle from the Party Source in Cincy/Kentucky. Brown pour with off-white head and visible floaties. Aroma of herbal, citrus, spice, grass. Tastes are bittersweet, red fruit, caramel, herbal, yeasty. Not sure I’m getting what I should out of this single hops. Would probably have to do them side by side and even then. Generally, decent to sip on.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
As goes for all the Hop Series beers I’ve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Fresh and light smell. More ananas, just like galena. Cellar smell. A bit bretty? Maybe this bottle was infected. Anyway, bready-bitter malt taste, but a different bitterness than most other hops. More tangy.
