This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

If you read the label. All of the hop series are brewed in the exact same way. This really showcases each variety for what it is. This variety Super Galena, I believe is a true hop lovers hop. Flavors are toasty bitterness, caramel, honey, graham, alcohol. Sweet aroma. Really delicious.

Bottle from Blackhearts & Sparrows. Great hoppy beer. Aromas of caramel, grass, and other herbs. Taste is sweet and bitter, with very long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

Aroma is citrus and juicy. The flavor is hoppy up front but nicely balanced in the malts with a slightly dry finish. A very good IPA, among the best of the Hop Series.

Keg at Craft Beer Co, London on 14th October 2012. Hazy copper with rich white lacing head. Intensely citric and tangy with some grassiness. Grapefruit and zesty tang in mouth. Zingy mouthfeel. Bursting with flavour. A must.

Yes! Big pineapple beer. Having this on the back of a disappointing lager! The aroma hits the nose right after cracking the top. Big deep fruit hit. Muddy gold pour with big foaming head that fades slow like. Massive pineapple on the nose, as well as a healthy dose of funk. A little frothy in the mouth though. Damn shame as it’s nectar.

Bottle from Beer Cartel. Murky dark orange/red, strong pineapple and tropical fruit characters, slight yeasty notes, slightly grainy, caramel malt, quite bitter but well balanced. Different, but very good.

Sampled draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft during Zwanze Day shenanigans. Appearance is hazy, murky fox orange, slightly off-white head. Smell is big grapefruit, very hoppy, very fruity, touch caramel, small touch of pine. Taste is pretty bitter, slight caramel malts, grapefruit, slight overripe peaches, some bitter herbs in the back, pretty fruity, faint herbs. Full, very slightly yeasty body. Pretty nice, def. neater than the single hop / hop series Mikkeller’s I had a long time ago. (Thx! for sharing people!)
