COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle @ home. Slightly grassy, a touch citrusy, earthy, noble hoppy hoppy nose. Dull, earthy, slightly grassy, lightly citrusy, a bit floral hoppy, sweet, bready flavor with a bit dry of finish. Earthy, slightly grassy aftertaste.

Part of a third flight of five out of nineteen 4 days test. Very good yellow head, dense, over well-carbonated copper-amber hazy beer. Woody, severe nose, bit earthy, autumn leaves. Woody, bitter peach marmalade-covered cake, quite resiny, and rather harsh finish. However, warming up, the bitterness is more restrained, and I even get a tad sweetness as from preserved fruit. At least medium bodied, oily-slick and even creamy texture. To the positive side, this is the only of this flight where the hop is PART of the beer, rather than the all-determining factor. I feared for the German hop, but it holds its own remarkably. The hop for balance, it would seem. And I thought it was just known as ’Tettnang’?

Bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen, shared with Palme and friends. Slightly hazy nut-brown/orange body with a medium creamy off-white top. Nose is earthy tones of wet leaves, grass and hints of nuts. A bit mild, as expected with a noble hop. Taste is more earthy caramel malt tones with nuts and traces of bitter pine in the aftertaste. Extremely mild and a bit bland, but pleasant enough.

11.2 fl oz bottle purchased at Royal in Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is light haze orange golden with a three inch off white head which is quite lasting. Thick coating left behind as the head slowly falls. The aroma is initially a bit bready, than opens up with sweetly floral earthiness. There is sone citrus present as well. The taste has a bright spicy grapefruit peel citrus, then flows cleanly to floral earthiness of the nose. The finish shows the citrus again. The palate is medium to light bodied, soft carbonation and a bitter dry finish.

A deep amber pour. A finger or two of creamy off-white head. Dies down slowly and leaves behind a bit of lacing. Smells of a beautiful bouquet of citrusy flowers. A slight bit of malt underneath. A spicy hoppy taste with a little bit of malt mixed in. Grapefruit and oranges. A little bit of a flowery aftertaste. Good beer from the series.
