COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

monoroc (21) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - FEB 23, 2014
Pours cloudy copper color with a large off white head. Aroma is citrus, orange, malt with a bit of grass. Tasting malt, oranges, grass with a medium-strong, slowly spreading and long lasting bitterness. More bitter than the other IPAs from Mikkellers Single Hop Series, but quite good though.

jamestulloch (1244) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 14, 2014
Bottle from Nina’s Mini Market. Murky amber body with a medium off-white head. Steady carbonation. Excellent lacing. Aroma of onion, caramel and blood orange. Flavour of orange, biscuit and wood. Biting bitterness. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Lively fizz. I think this hop’s flavour characteristics aren’t strong enough to carry a single-hopped beer. Nice bitterness though.

esjaygee (3903) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 5, 2014
Chunky dead yeast suspended in a copper sea with a large tan head. Aroma of citrus, pine, tropical fruit and toasted pale malts. Taste is bland with malt, vegetal notes, some citrus and finishes dry and bitter.

maekchu (1943) - Hirakata, JAPAN - DEC 14, 2013
Bottle from Asahiya. Lots of caramel in the aroma, also some dirt or fertilizer. Amber color. The basic flavor is caramel throughout with a slightly stinging hoppiness. Medium-heavy body, with the hops as a texture. Tasty and substantial. The earthy notes are a bit much.

ben4321 (3765) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - NOV 6, 2013
Location: 11.2 oz bottle from Central Market, 11/6/13

Aroma: The nose is overripe fruit, some light grass, and a fairly large malt caramel malt backbone
Appearance: A cloudy reddish-orange color with a sheety foam of beige head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is a sweet/over ripened fruit, with a caramel malt, and a late bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it is creamy on the mouth, and has a long, dry finish
Overall Impression: It feels as though this one may be a bit past it’s prime (no date, but it was purchased this week). I didn’t love this one, but it is okay. I’d be curious to see if it would be significantly different we’re it fresher.

nuplastikk (4269) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 27, 2013
Bottle. Hazy orange, unfiltered body. Big frothy head. Past its prime. A premium international price is unacceptable if your beer quickly deteriorates and smells like buttery malt trash. Great appearance..that’s about it.

CPH2200 (274) - DENMARK - SEP 16, 2013
Bottle 6.8% abv. Pour darks orange brown with thin creamy head. Aroma a bit pissy and sour. Taste is bitter (115 ibu) with noticeable alcohol and fruits. Not bad but not the best in this series.

DruncanVeasey (7099) - NUNEATON, Top 13, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2013
Keg, BrewDog Brum, 21/08/13. Ominous, almost ruby looks thinly collared with vanilla. Buttered peach aroma with a stroke of labrador. No, no, no, no...another sickly, boozy, peachy, throat sweet-flavoured IPA in the US style. Tastes exactly like Lipton peach iced tea. Alcohol strongly apparent, hops smothered by honey and malt. Poor by Mikkeller’s standards.
