This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place shared among a group of five locals. Pours a clear orange-copper color with a small off-white head that leaves a bit of lace- all 19 looked like this. Aroma was dominated by soap, earth, and cereal. The flavor had some light hops, grains, grass, and earth. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation. Fairly dull compared to others in the series.

Copper hazy, thick white head. Smells of flowers and berries. Body is quite malty, some sweetness. Finish is hoppy and bitter but i miss more hop tones. I guess Willamette is too weak alone

Pours clear golden amber with a good sized soapy beige head. The aroma has floral / powdery hoppiness and toasty caramel malt. There is also a lot of spicy phenolic traits. Medium body that’s lightly husky with mildly sharp carbonation. The taste starts off with very English-style earthiness to the hops, crackery malt and a bit of spice. The finish is fairly balanced with a larger that normal amount of malt showing through for the series and earthy hoppiness. Okay IPA.
