This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottled, and probably quite old. Hazy amber color. Decent head, mediocre retetion. Not getting a lot from this beer. Some small earthy tones, slight metallic after taste. Will question any recipe that calls for Willamette.

330ml bottle from Thistle News. Muddy dark amber brown, not much head. Resin grain aroma and flavour. Bitter aftertaste with a hint of caramel. This is not a good hop.

Bottle Rehills Newcastle. Slightly hazy red beer, with little to no head and a fair amount of sediment. Toffee and yeast aroma, apple flavours on the tongue. Semi sweet and tasty enough, but just lacking something to give it a bit more life. The finish is a bit like a Belgian Triple, strangely enough....

So much bitter becomes beer drinking miserable after a while. Well brewed but that is just it.

Pours brown color with a bit of trub and an off white minimal head. Aroma is pine, floral with a subtle maltinesss. Quite a floral, spicy, earthy taste with a rather mild bitterness. Nice refreshing, texture. Don’t like the floral thingy, otherwise ok.

Bottle. Hazy amber pour with some particles and a huge frothy offwhite head. Aroma with lots of malt and some notes of yeast. Taste is sweet and has some dry bitterness. Various fruity notes as well. Ends metallic
