This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle from Vino Wines. Muddy orange with large open structured off-white head. Loads of funk on the nose, some malt, ripe pineapple. Dryish palate but full mouthfeel. Dry funky end. Something slightly cloying all said, but a heady delight.

Tap. Moderate roasted and caramel for the malt, pine for the hops, light sweat for the yeast, with notes of light dried fruit like peaches and apricot. Head is average size, creamy, swirly tan with god lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is opaque light brown, like chocolate milk. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a carbonation between soft and lively. Other than the completely polluted look of this beer I understand I got the bottom of the barrel) this IPA is pretty standard fair.

Possible new 2013 series? Hazy amber, not a lot going on in the nose, some blackcurrant maybe, some bready/hay. Tastes a bit thin, tastes like a 5%er. Not a lot to like.

from Erzbierschof - pours a hazy amber-orange beer with no foam left; aroma of blood oranges dominates; a good malt backbone, some astringency, fairly bitter with more hoppy notes of bitter oranges in the finish

Ipa ambrata. Single hop willamette. Luppolo da aroma, infatti la birra e' ben equilibrata tra dolcezza del malto e amaro. Ottima ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled@Cask Pub & Kitchen, London. Orangeish amber hazy colour with a slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruits, mild sweet malts, wood, resin and some mild metallic notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, nectary with some caramel and mild metallic notes. The metallicness shows up quite evidently as the beer gets warmer.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2013 33cl Bottle. Blind tasting of all 19 Mikkeller Hop Series beers. Shared with Mathieu87. Appearance: amber beer, stable white head. Nose: quite bitter, little fruit noticeable. Taste: less hoppy, rather dry, though one off the lesser from the Series. Update TAP at Delirium Brussels, shared with Mathieu87. Labeled as "Mikkeller Single Willamette" so I’m not sure if it’s the same entry or not... APPEARANCE: dark blond clouded beer, nice stable off white head. NOSE: hoppy, fresh, little peppery, not much in total though. TASTE: heavy hoppy aftertaste, though not really balanced. Not much nose, taste is not bad. Score was not different
