This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

0,33 bottle, Brewdog Online Store.
Poured opalescent amber with a medium creamy tan head. Moderated aroma of tropical fruits, bublegum, fig and grass, pine. Flavor opens with malts, after some slips the fruity yeasts arrive. The bitterness level is lower than expected with pine and grass.

Bottle from Vino Wines. Muddy orange with large open structured off-white head. Loads of funk on the nose, some malt, ripe pineapple. Dryish palate but full mouthfeel. Dry funky end. Something slightly cloying all said, but a heady delight.

glennmastrange (2667) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JUL 30, 2013
Tap. Moderate roasted and caramel for the malt, pine for the hops, light sweat for the yeast, with notes of light dried fruit like peaches and apricot. Head is average size, creamy, swirly tan with god lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is opaque light brown, like chocolate milk. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a carbonation between soft and lively. Other than the completely polluted look of this beer I understand I got the bottom of the barrel) this IPA is pretty standard fair.

Possible new 2013 series? Hazy amber, not a lot going on in the nose, some blackcurrant maybe, some bready/hay. Tastes a bit thin, tastes like a 5%er. Not a lot to like.

Bov (11974) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUL 1, 2013
from Erzbierschof - pours a hazy amber-orange beer with no foam left; aroma of blood oranges dominates; a good malt backbone, some astringency, fairly bitter with more hoppy notes of bitter oranges in the finish
