from Erzbierschof - pours a hazy amber-orange beer with no foam left; aroma of blood oranges dominates; a good malt backbone, some astringency, fairly bitter with more hoppy notes of bitter oranges in the finish

bottle. Amber with two finger head. Iíve had a bunch of these now, and this follows the standard of a substantial caramel malt base. Moderate sweetness. Hops are bitter and a bit earthy. Decent, but not amongst my favorites in this series.

Bottle, 0.33l. Hazy dark orange colour with medium beige head. Nice lacing. Lots of floating sediments. Citrusy aroma. Taste starts fruity, sweet and finishes with moderate bitterness with hint of spices. Overall very good IPA.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours reddish copper with sediment from my careless pour. The mild aroma has caramel, bread with a mildly spicy and subtle hop presence. Moderate carbonation. Has a clean malt flavor of biscuit and caramel with a quick floral note that quickly fades. Finishes with a mild hop bitterness that is slightly spicy and leaves a lingering spicy/peppery flavor. This one was brewed for educational purposes and to rate it alongside other beers is probably a disservice. I love this concept and appreciated the experience that Mikkeller is providing with this offering.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
As goes for all the Hop Series beers Iíve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Bready, earthy-bitterness. Not so classic IPA-hops aromas in there. But the bitterness gives a nice finish.

"a nice fruity aroma greets the nose. other than that, though it was a pretty average beer. nothing bad but nothing that stood out in the flavor. ibus in the 30s are too low for an ipa."

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, and probably quite old. Hazy amber color. Decent head, mediocre retetion. Not getting a lot from this beer. Some small earthy tones, slight metallic after taste. Will question any recipe that calls for Willamette.
