Bottle. Orange-gold, hazy, with a nice robust white head. Aroma and flavour are grapefruit and pine, but nicely balanced with a lightly sweet malt profile. Man, two awesome Christmas euro-IPAs in a row!! I frigging love Christmas!

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is citrus and pine needles. Taste is dry, super crisp, does not feel the ginger before the end, which is dry and bitter, citrussy, very good.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden with a beige head. Aroma of ripe orange, fresh hops, pine, feel of ginger, citrus, orange peel and a sweeter malty background. Taste of fresh bitter pine, citrusy hops, sweeter orange, some sweeter malts, earthy and light ginger. A nice break from the sweeter christmas beers.

Small bottle. Cloudy golden amber body with a firm rocky head. Aroma and taste are similar to many other Mikkeller IPAs so it’s hardly offering anything new. The ginger in it must be masked by the hop bitterness because I can’t taste any. And pine needles taste like hops anyway, don’t they? Not bad for an IPA but it does not taste like Christmas to me.

Aromatic and Substantive hoppiness buffered by spice, ginger. Bitterness from pine needles. Xmas tasted-out, and so drinkability is just Ok. Still a decent and complex beer. Above average mouthfeel. Foamy head and lace.

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2014 Rerate, 750 ml capped bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Golden colour, only slightly hazy. Fluffy white head. Strong hoppy aroma, notes of grapefruit, spruce tips and pine needles. Distinctly hoppy flavour, medium sweet, with strong notes of pine needles. Could hardly identify the ginger if i didn’t know it was there. Original rating: Shared bottle at local tasting. Cloudy golden colour. Very nice aroma of fruity hops and pine needles. Hoppy flavour with fruity and piney notes, the bitterness seems just right. The ginger is fairly subdued.

[keg at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh] Hazy deep golden amber pour, large white head. Pretty huge resinous wallop on the nose, even with the cold serve. As it warms, the aroma becomes more citrus-based, but doesn’t diminish. Tastewise, unsurprisingly extremely hoppy – piney at first, but becoming floral and sweeter the more you go on. Orange and some passion fruit in there as well. I guess the pineyness relates to the pine needles, but I confess to not getting much ginger [14122012]

Keg at North Bar, Leeds. Pours a hazy amber, finger of head. Aroma is hoppy citrus, some pine spice, bready notes. Taste is similar - bitter hippy citrus up front with pine/tropical fruit notes, giving way to a bready sweetness. Full body, fairly long sweet (not very bitter) finish, and a little bit of alcohol heat once its inside you. A good one (even though it doesn’t taste.particularly Christmassy).
