3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg at North Bar, Leeds. Pours a hazy amber, finger of head. Aroma is hoppy citrus, some pine spice, bready notes. Taste is similar - bitter hippy citrus up front with pine/tropical fruit notes, giving way to a bready sweetness. Full body, fairly long sweet (not very bitter) finish, and a little bit of alcohol heat once its inside you. A good one (even though it doesn’t taste.particularly Christmassy).

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice bitter grapefruit up front, turning very sweet afterward with a big punch from the pine at the end. As it warms the pine is very strong in the aftertaste but is tempered a bit by the sweetness. Interesting transition from bitter to sweet to bitter again. Not as much ginger as in the nose, just a hint in the aftertaste.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours amber with a small head.
Nose shows heavy caramel and resinous hops. Pine underneath. Very malty aroma.
Pretty malty flavours too. More pine and resin, but lots of sweet clean malt balancing things out. Assertive bitterness in the finish but the malt wins out.

The pour is a clear golden color with a full, fluffy, creamy, off-white head which is mostly lasting and leaves scattered, drippy lace. The nose is pleasant with lots of pine resins, floral, herbal, light ginger, some pink grapefruit, and gooseberries. The flavor is very similar with lots of fruit (gooseberries, pink grapefruit), still quite resinous, piney, very faint ginger, and herbal underneath. The palate is lively, light to medium, and oily/sticky. The finish is mostly bitter, gooseberries, pine resins, and herbal. I actually liked this quite a bit; the intense fruit was pleasant for me, and the underlying herbal was a nice touch. The pine addition is an obvious complementary piece but the subtle ginger worked well in this, despite my skepticism. Just another great beer from Mikkeller.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This review is from the bottle but I also just drank this on tap last week. Nice looking beer, tall fluffy one inch crown that reduced to a nipple. Heavy sweet hop aroma, ruby red grape fruit, I do hit ginger but it is faint, I only think I smell pine because I read it in the deScription. Aroma is good not great. Taste is crisp but not intense, highly drinkable. Woody peach flavour, hints of ginger, dusty finish. After taste lingers in a nice way. Beer seemed way better on tap but that might have been the company I was with. Brew is getting sweet as it warms. Why do I enjoy watching "Gold rush Alaska" so much. So easy drinking, Wish it was better.

Some aroma of pine within fruity hops. Ginger has a hot ending in the beer. Body is not quite up to the heat. Interesting but not very great. Good experiment.

Bottle from Yamaichi. Nice hoppy nose, citrus, grass, pine, some ginger, biscuit and light caramel malts. Deep gold with a tall, fine head. Piney, resiny flavor, lots of hops, grass, spice, (light ginger, though I don’t know if I would have guessed). Very hoppy, bitter finish with some alcohol. A bit of honey, biscuit, sweet orange. Unbalanced and bitter but flavorful and fun.
