3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A steady pour produces a three finger thick, pale tan colored head in my Lost Abbey Teku glass. The beer has a pale amber color that shows a pale-orange tinged, bright gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of pine needles, lychee, woody notes, tangelo zest, some Meyer Lemon, as well as a backdrop of toasted pale malt, soda cracker notes, and a hint of pale malt sweetness (though only a hint). The aroma gets much more woody and spicy as it warms up significantly.
The beer has a sweetness to the flavor that is accentuated by the fruity hops, it finishes spicy and dry from the alcohol, the ginger, and some woody / pine notes. At times the woody notes and pine wood character becomes quite noticeable in the finish. Fairly dry, the woody notes certainly accentuate this, especially in the long finish, the beer is also light and quaffable. For the most part the spice and wood notes meld in quite well with the hop character, in fact I could be easily convinced, if I didn’t know better, that this was simple a pine / woody focused IPA.
The nose is a bit less vibrantly hoppy than I would prefer in an IPA, but this isn’t strictly an IPA, it is still quite nice though. This is a nice beer, it can seem a touch hot at times in the finish, and I wonder if the pine / ginger is accentuating the alcohol a bit more than it would if this beer did not include those ingredients. Still I am quite happy to be drinking this right now.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma is full of lemons and oranges, with some biscuit malt and some perfume notes thrown in. The flavor is similar, with a lot of orange and lemon notes, as well as some biscuit malt to balance out the bitterness and keep it pretty low. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.33l bottle shared with ClubGonzo and Inbreak. This is a golden kinda blurry-golden beer packed with tons of tiny sediments and it has a nice big just off-white head. The first thing in the aroma is sweetness and perhaps some spices. Hard to tell if the ginger is present, perhaps all the way in the back? Some banana sweetness also, and a hint of cloves. Yeah, sweet and kinda different. It feels creamy-fizzing on the tongue and it’s average carbonated. Flavors are not bad at all. Piny hops all the way, not so much of that sweetness found in the aroma, light grapy and mouth-drying as well. Not your average Christmas beer this, but I’m sure it would be great with that fatty meaty Christmas food. 18.04.2012

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from City Beer. Pours cloudy golden with a pretty clinging white head and a floral aroma. There is a delicious caramel malt flavor with a bitter toffee finish. The pine needles add to the hoppy feel.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared with Palme and Inbreak. Hazy dark orange body, thick creamy white head. Lookin’ very good. Aroma is grassy fruity sweet tones, spice and ginger hints - a bit like the Japanese "gari" you get with sushi; pickled ginger. Taste is sweet spicy herbal, yet light ginger tones with a bitter grassy hop backing. Thick mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Nice, and probably good with either sushi or fatty Xmas foods.

Doft av humle och tropisk frukt. Fruktig smak med tyldig beska saknar dock lite kropp. 8p av 10 vid julölsprovningen 2011. Vinnare.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home, bought at Hopduvel in Ghent. Pale blond colour, pretty clear, bit beige bubbly head. Aroma is ultra hoppy, lots of sharp citrus, bit of pine, but not as much as I expected. Hint of ginger spiciness in there too. Ginger intensifies further down. Taste is what you would expect from an IPA. Citrus bitterness, quite a lot of biscuit, or maybe given the ginger, a gingerbread taste. Finish is quite long and mellow, with bitterness booze and malt all slowly fading. Maybe even a bit cakey. Quite solid in the mouth. Started off thinking it was nice, but the further down I got, it became increasingly nicer. Pretty damn good.
