330ml brown bottle. golden coloured beer, haze. giant white head, creamy, sticky, huge. Nose has some candy sweet notes, zest of orange. Taste starts sweet, gets overtaken by sharp citrus notes, oranges, zesty. Finishes with decent lingering bitterness, sharp citrus peel notes and a faint pine hint. Dries out a bit in the end. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Nice beer, ginger isn’t leaping out, but I can tell it’s there. Enjoyable.

Flavors and aromas of sweet malt, ginger and pine hops. There was an earthiness about it. Pretty clear light copper color with a big foamy head and lacing. Medium weight and strong carbonation.

Tap at the Jeffrey. Hazed golden pour nose is hoppy pine and candy. Tastes of candy, pine needles, some tangerine, light caramel. Medium palate slight chewy. Decent enough but compared to Other Half I just drank not as exciting.

Day 24 of the Julepakkekalender from Mikkeller. Bottled.

Aroma: Ginger, coffee, and a faint pine aroma.
Appearance: Pours an amber colour. Light, lingering head.
Taste: Strong ginger hit upfront, as well is in the aftertaste. An odd flavour buried in the mix - the pine needles?
Palate: Very sweet, with a mild bitterness. Medium body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Interesting. Not my thing, but I do appreciate the flavours going on. If they dropped the ginger, and added some other spices like nutmeg and cinammon, then this would be Christmas in a bottle! As it is, it feels more like something made to go with Chinese food.

Hazy yellow, with huge white head. Aroma is floral in a way that I can’t place, with lightly meaty yeast notes. Sweet, and mildly resinous, with a belgian ester profile that holds it all together. $4/750ml

Bottle from Tallinna Kaubamaja (€ 4.20). BB due in a week - damn, I should’ve opened it months ago! Kinda forgot I had this. Despite that it carries a whole lot of overripe mango and pineapple sweetness on the nose, it’s really-really candy-like sweet, somewhat piney-resinous, but it also has a slight burnt plasticky note to it - and that nearly ruins everything. No ginger. Colour is light orange, slightly hazy, head is big, big-bubbled, and light creamy, retains and laces relatively well. Taste is moderately sweet, some not very pronounced bitterness… Piney, yes, plasticky, yes. No ginger. Smooth and soft on the palate, carbonation is modest, body medium. Harsh unbalanced and unpleasant bitterness in the finish.

Should try it again next year, get a more fresh bottle and re-rate. This one here, a week before its BB, is really not a very good beer.

330ml bottle from Food Show in Shibuya. Poured into a snifter. Hazy golden orange color with a huge soapy eggshell head. Big tropical fruit aroma with hints of tree sap and pine as well. Ginger and cardamom are evident on the palate. Piney hop and sweet malt flavors stand up throughout. Nice dry finish. Awesome IPA.

Bottle. Golden orange pour, slightly cloudy, with a large off white head. Hoppy, sweet candy sugar, dried fruit, fruity pebbles, mild ginger, orange, and mildly bitter citrus. Ok, not bad.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 5 Dec 2014) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of dried fruit, citrus and a touch of ginger. Malty, fruity taste with apricots, orange marmalade, ginger, candy sugar and a balanced citric bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Spicy and tasty with fresh citric hops and a spicy touch of ginger. Nice one.
