UPDATED: FEB 20, 2013 Great beer, I like it so much. Perfectly balanced bitterness, surprising considering the ginger presence (quite subtle). Lots of pine notes. I did not expect such a wonderful experience, which of course I highly recommend. I don’t see anything wrong.

Very good IPA,for Christmas it’s the best. herbs, citrus, resin, with pine and grapefruit in the first line. caramel, floral, orange and ananas. golden, hazy, white foam, rocky head. heavy cloying sweetness, full body, thin feel, sticky, average carbonation, bitter, astringent, , with some pineapple, ananas, lime, orange, grapefruit and pine and resins. Very good one.

330ml bottle. The big hop notes burst forth from the bottle the second the cap comes off. Pours with a big volcanic ash cloud of foam that sits atop a golden amber base. You get hop aromas by the noseful, sweet, floral and citrusy all at once. They should bottle that scent and sell it as aftershave. Thick and syrupy in the mouth with lots going on in the way of flavour. Pine needle aftertaste on the palate is good and even the foam tastes good. Great colourful label and another quailty beer from Mikkeller. It is a shame that Christmas comes but once a year. This is awesome.

Bottle@christmas@præstemosen. Amber haze. Half finger foam. Tons of citrus and plenty of exotic fruites. Balanced moderate sour-bitter finish. Mistelten yes yes it must be present in the brew. Dangerous! We are still alive;)

15 cl. draft sample @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. IPA brewed with ginger & pine needles (really? Odd, like a serious amount or just a dash? If a lot where did they get enough? Pick them? Is pine finally justified as a tasting note? I am seriously curious here?) Either way, I believe that I have done all Mikkeller x-beers of 2012 now, no clunkers here, all fine beers just like this one. I dig even the label of this one, it is so silly & I am usually not a fun of his work. Pours a hazy orange with a creamy white head. Smell is sweet peach, American hops, sweet yeast, summer fruits, flowers,… Taste is sweet, yeast, peaches, floral hops, American hops, sugary, light flowers, summer fruits, oranges,… Fuller body, seriously yummy IPA. Well done & yeah and IPA is not Christmasy but after so many heavy Belgian quead’s, ales etc. it is a fine change of pace.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2014 Appearance: medium golden color with a haze to it, pours with a very large beige head that settles into a nice density, amazing head retention Aroma: very yeasty, bread, milk almost, creamy, grass, pine, citrus, smells very good Taste: strong bitterness with notes of grass and strong pine, a bit of that pine needle taste from when I chewed on them as a kid, a nice malt note to it as well, citrus is there too Palate: soft carbonation, average mouthfeel, bitter aftertaste Overall: pretty awesome beer, has a strong bitterness throughout yet has many pleasant hop flavors as well, the yeast from the aroma does not show itself in the taste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2011 Golden bodied, big foamy white head with loads of lacing. Citrus, grapefruit - clearly focussed on the fresh hops and crisp flavour. Not anything like how most Christmas beers are. Some wheat and barnyard too. Smooth body, perfect for an IPA. Light bitter with lots of complexness while still being drinkable and fresh. I suppose the ?happy lovin? is because of the warming feeling you get, together with how fast you?d get drunk while chugging these is great quantities - something I have no objections to. Loads and loads of flavour, complex but accessible bitter taste. Almost perfect IPA. But how was this Christmas again? (33cl bottle)

Capped 750 from The Davis Beer Shoppe in Davis, CA. Pours hazy golden amber with a 4 finger foamy/creamy white head that has staying power. The aroma is nostril clearing - resin and spice (might be ginger). Full bodied. Very. Flavor is caramel with resin and I think ginger. It’s got hot spice anyway. This is a massive brew flavorwise. My mouth probably no longer has anything left to oxidize. Frickin brilliant ale. BRILLIANT!!!!!

Bottled (from Alko Prisma, Vaasa). Deep golden colour, huge fluffy/foamy white head that leaves some lace. Aroma is lots of tropical fruityness, mild spruce and some slight sweet syrupy and gingery notes. Mild honey in there as well. Flavour is sweet tropical fruits, mild honey, some slight gingery freshness (no real burn, just a slight gingery tone to it) and mild spruce and some rasiny/sappy notes. Woohah, what a nice surprise. Not sure what this beer has to do with Christmas except for the name, but this beer is brilliance!
