COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This spontaneous fermented beer has been aged in Hungarian oak barrels and appears with a light amber color with almost no head.

The aroma is huge and very vinous. A clear impression of oxidized apples is the first thing that hits you, which made us think of heavy old fashioned British apple ciders. The aroma also reveals the wooden notes from the barrels along with some burned toffee and spices like Star anise.

It has a very heavy acidic profile at first, one that quickly slides into a smooth kind of sweetness. We taste green apples, carambola and very young green grapes. It has a certain lactic acidic touch and a creamy dry finish that lasts forever and bares the green impressions through.

Some mild creamy blue cheese on roasted rye bread would work great due to both the lactic and acidity impressions in this beer.

Bottle, 06/09/2014. Pours burnished copper, small white head fades to an almost still surface. Aroma is earthy barnyard, mildly tart, overripe apricot, peach, citrus overtones, nicely funky, hay, touch of caramel. Taste is nicely tart, mildly sweet apple, citrus, mild acidity and funk in the middle, wet wood finish, finishes clean. Light body. Well done geuze, enjoyable.

Road soda! drank from the bottle which was a lovely green. Aroma of barnyard funk, musty cellar, citrus, cobwebs. Flavour is light sweet and over moderate acidic. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A really nice effort on the style by Mikkeller.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear golden with a diminishing white head. Light tartness and quite dry. Aromas of sour grapes and cask wood. Medium to light bodied with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Also aromas of white pepper and towards the end, tiny hints of vanilla . Soft carbonation. Bitter finish.

Bottle, 375ml corked. A hazy, dark golden beer topped by a small, off-white head. Lightly funky nose with citrus peel and a spiced touch. Woody hints and some cellar. Toffee hints. Light citrusy flavor, dry and slightly tart, with cellar, wood, green apples and a faint spiced hint. Some sugar too. Medium body. soft carbonation level. Lasting lemony finish with toffee and citrus notes. Quite nice, but not world class, too sweet and caramel-ish. 141018

Pours slightly hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma is sour with notes of horseblanket, barnyard, brett, wood and some fruitiness. Taste is light sweet and medium sour with a long sour, dry, woody and fruity finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours golden orange with a fluffy white head and thin lacing. Aroma of citrus pith, lemongrass, green apple, lactic sourness and some passionfruit. Flavours are a plenty of pithy tartness, green apple peel, maybe some sweet banana and clove on the finish too. Lingering dry tartness, little bitterness. Yup.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours vibrant hazy orange with a very bubbly white which leaves a lace around the top. Nose is funky as all hell with some wicked vinous notes and fruit tang - almost reminds me of a very funky chardonnay with its butteryness. The taste is up front acidic which flows to bright citric sweetness and zest before the vinous notes turn into an almost almond finish. That odd nutty finish seems to be present in Mikkeller’s Spontan series and it is in this too. I’m a little impartial to it but this pulls it off better than some of the sponts due to its insanely high drinkability and acidic nature. Absolutely so damn refreshing. Very good

Davros (1987) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 12, 2014
Pours amber with a quickly fading head. Nose shows lemon peel, elderflower, coconut oak notes, apricot and lots of funk. Flavours include more oak-driven coconut, lemon peel and gooseberries followed by a strong refreshing acidity. Watery body but it works well with these flavours.

Bottle from Erzbierschof - Clear orange amber color, no head - Aroma is sour vinous, apple, cider, oaky - Flavor is sour vinous, vinegar, cider and oaky - light body, sour, good carbonation, sour oaky cider finish - I try to be objective but this style is not my cup of tea.
