This spontaneous fermented beer has been aged in Hungarian oak barrels and appears with a light amber color with almost no head.

The aroma is huge and very vinous. A clear impression of oxidized apples is the first thing that hits you, which made us think of heavy old fashioned British apple ciders. The aroma also reveals the wooden notes from the barrels along with some burned toffee and spices like Star anise.

It has a very heavy acidic profile at first, one that quickly slides into a smooth kind of sweetness. We taste green apples, carambola and very young green grapes. It has a certain lactic acidic touch and a creamy dry finish that lasts forever and bares the green impressions through.

Some mild creamy blue cheese on roasted rye bread would work great due to both the lactic and acidity impressions in this beer.

Bottle, 06/09/2014. Pours burnished copper, small white head fades to an almost still surface. Aroma is earthy barnyard, mildly tart, overripe apricot, peach, citrus overtones, nicely funky, hay, touch of caramel. Taste is nicely tart, mildly sweet apple, citrus, mild acidity and funk in the middle, wet wood finish, finishes clean. Light body. Well done geuze, enjoyable.

37.5cl bottle. Pours a nice clear amber, but with a very small, white head. Aroma is authentic geuze with lots of dry, sour grapes and apples, leather, a small hint of vanilla, acid. Both these sour notes, but also with a cider-like sweetness. Champagne. Taste is surprisingly light and smooth up front, followed by by a crispy, bitter, dry tartness, ended off with a nice, smooth spicyness. Vanilla, pepper, acid, brett, barrel wood and dryness. Fairly low carbonation and a smooth, yet crisp body. Very nice and complex beer that, in my opinion, adds something different to this genre.

Pours hazy amber with a tiny white head. Aroma of vinegar, green unripe apples, mouldy oak, grapefruit peel, barnyard and a hint of pear cider. Taste of green sour apples, apple/pear cider, barnyard, vinegar and dry champagne. Extremely fresh and highly drinkable! Really crisp and sexy!

Bottle: Slightly hazed gold with a tall white head. Wood, citrus, and a scent that reminds me of raw steak. Taste is prickly-tart, slightly salty.... Lemon, citrus, yeast.... Wow...this is GOOD. Wonderful.

Bottle, shared in a location remote to my dining room.
Pours a hazy golden color with a small head initially that fades.

The aroma is oaky & funky with some cider, some brininess, some cork and some lemon rind.

The flavor is tart with some sour cherries, and a good bit of oak. The beer is earthy and a little briny, it’s got some brightness of lemon and some bitterness of lemon rind.

The palate is bubbly and sharp.

Pretty good stuff.

Pale stale looking golden, despite a vibrant fuzzy ringed head. Bacon and sweetcorn dampened with a horseblanket. Tart as you like, dry as you might. Brilliant Geueze kick, nice and sweet sticky dryness on the finish thanks to things being a quick to fade fizzy. Vibrant and snip of juiciness.
