COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This spontaneous fermented beer has been aged in Hungarian oak barrels and appears with a light amber color with almost no head.

The aroma is huge and very vinous. A clear impression of oxidized apples is the first thing that hits you, which made us think of heavy old fashioned British apple ciders. The aroma also reveals the wooden notes from the barrels along with some burned toffee and spices like Star anise.

It has a very heavy acidic profile at first, one that quickly slides into a smooth kind of sweetness. We taste green apples, carambola and very young green grapes. It has a certain lactic acidic touch and a creamy dry finish that lasts forever and bares the green impressions through.

Some mild creamy blue cheese on roasted rye bread would work great due to both the lactic and acidity impressions in this beer.

Bottle, 06/09/2014. Pours burnished copper, small white head fades to an almost still surface. Aroma is earthy barnyard, mildly tart, overripe apricot, peach, citrus overtones, nicely funky, hay, touch of caramel. Taste is nicely tart, mildly sweet apple, citrus, mild acidity and funk in the middle, wet wood finish, finishes clean. Light body. Well done geuze, enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with very characteristic lambic’ish small ring of white head. Aroma has a lot of acidic green apples. Oaky vanilla, leathery funk. Reminds me of dry French cider. Taste sour and tart with apples and a delicious mellow vanilla and sweet grapes. Sparkling carbonation with a tart dry finish, awesome texture which is creamy and sparkling at same time. Really refreshing.

Una gueuze di una rotondità e morbidezza invidiabile, perfettamente equilibrata e ricca di note legnose, acetico-citriche che si propagano nel basso palato. Magistrale!

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub shared by Erwin Van Moll. Slightly unclear orange color, virtually no head. Aroma is pretty nice: lightly sourish, pretty fruity, a touch of sourish fruitpeel. Taste is lightly sour, actually just a slight sour fruity hint, not more than that, quite fruity, soft flavors sort of speak. Pretty dry finish. Well I certainly dig this. Very nice!

375ml bottle. Pours a hazy deep gold, with a small off-white head, which lasts reasonably well without leaving very much lacing. Strong funkiness, leathery notes and dusty apple mix with slight pineapple and white wine notes to create the aroma. Sour lime and green apple up front segue into leather, faint oak and champagne in the mid-palate. The finish is strongly sour, with more lime and some mild pineapple notes. A nice, complex gueuze from Mikkeller.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear golden with a diminishing white head. Light tartness and quite dry. Aromas of sour grapes and cask wood. Medium to light bodied with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Also aromas of white pepper and towards the end, tiny hints of vanilla . Soft carbonation. Bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy and gold in the glass. Medium white head. It fades to a ring of bubbles within a minute or so. The aroma is deep and funky. Really, really nice. Big oak note, very pleasant. Lots of grapes and light stone fruit. White wine and cheese. Maybe a bit heavy on the sweaty, cheesy funk but I like it. Moderately tart, heavily leans toward lactic sourness. Lots more oak. Quite dry. Plenty more funk comes through with the same lightly sweet fruit. Round with mildly prickly carbonation which fades to smoothness quickly. Surprisingly good beer. Wonderful depth of flavor. I would like to see Mikkeller stick to this <6% abv territory.

Bottle: Ghostly translucent, bruised amber body with a moderate gray-tinted head that fades quickly to a fuzzy film & collar. Aroma full of sweaty green apple, leather, mild horse funk, cork. wet oak, lemon, & faint must. A solid waft of some funky bleu cheese, too. Flavor is more tart; lots of green apple, lemon, & moderate vinegar sourness. Puckering sweet-tart notes lead into a strong woody mid-palate with tons of drying oak, hay-like Brett funk, & some withered leather. Fresh & crisp green apple comes back in the end with a nice spike of acetic sourness, vinegar, & a lingering hint of old cheesecloth & funk cheese rind. Dry, vinous & moderately tannic finish. Really nice.

Corked and caged bottle. Light amber pour with a small off white head. Very vinous, sweet vanilla, barnyard, oak, light funk and lemon juice. Nicely balanced and very drinkable!
