motelpogo (4086), Plzen, Czech Republic Oct 26, 2007 on tap at Ølbaren, copenhagen. deep shade of purple, styeady off-white head. aroma of cherry ripe and red berries. full-bodied and tasty, plenty of warming alcohol, lots of tangy, lingering bitterness. excellent stuf illinismitty (1314), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 8, 2007 Updated: Jul 9, 2007Bottle from Kxkeller. Thanks Kristian. Pours a muddy dark amber red with a beige creamy head. Good aroma of floral hops, caramal, fruity yeast esters- sort of like that wonderfull smell coming from the airlock of fermenting wort. Full rounded medium body with soft carbonation and earthy texture. Initial flavor caramel, plums, and green grapes that quickly transitions to vineous and vanilla middle. Fairly sweet, but not overdone. Sharp bitter and subtle boozy finish, and my senses even hint at a bit of smoke or peat, even though I don’t think it’s in the beer. This is very nice beer, and probably one of the best American Strong Ales that I have had so far. ryan (1652), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Jun 26, 2007 Sample provided by kmeaver. Cloudy, muddy brown body with small beige head, lasting cover. The aroma is citrus, caramel, vinous and yeasty dough. The flavor is slightly sweet, grapes, plums skins, toffee, citrus, pine and vanilla. Medium body with light carbonation and a bitter finish. I always enjoy Mikkeller’s beers. kmweaver (1770), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Jun 23, 2007 12oz bottle, courtesy of sk8viking. Thanks, Rene! Pours a murky, yellowish-brown color; off-white head with patchy lacing. Dense, floral and dried red fruit aroma; vinous and slightly tart. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: dense, dried red fruits and candy sugar; slightly vinous and chewy; pleasant raspberry and lightly tart core; great stuff. Lengthy finish, showing candy sugar and dried fruits. CharlesDarwin (1315), State College, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2007 Updated: Aug 12, 200712 Oz Bottle. Thanks for sharing Chris! Aroma stings forth with resiny roots a destruction of caramel apple, flames of solvent and soap. Flavor starts biting and harsh, ringing with Mr. Clean and Pine Sol. Loads of condensed sweet sugar and jolly ranchers. Hot. House yeast perks up with a dirty pediococcus twang, really fouling the beer. Thyme and compost. Settles after fuming, but still speaks of floor-licking sterno. In the middle a real sense of having a Cascade heavy American strongale compacted and played with the volume way down.
