Rating #1337. The leet leet madness review. 1.12.2014. On tap @sugarbowlcafe. Pours a darker amber, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is citrusy, grapefruit hops predominant. Taste is boldly hopped, pastry dough malt meets the fruit bomb, lots of lemon, lime, tangerine sweetness throughout. Lovely tap.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Grapefruit, some hay, cereal, pine, resin, and a hint of honey, with ripe pineapple peeking out towards the finish. A surprising amount of booze for a DIPA. The mouthfeel is substantial, with low carbonation and a syrupy body. The taste is bitter with residual sweetness, main flavors being hayish malts and resiny hops, not terribly bright. Drinkable, but did not rattle me. Perhaps I didn’t have the best bottle? Surely this has to be a lot better when truly fresh.

Bottle. Golden, cloudy, average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate to full malty and caramel sweetish aroma with light bread, some tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit/citrus hoppyness. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, caramel and light fruitiness, some grapefruit/citrus hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, some caramel and faint fruitiness, some citrus - light grapefruit hoppyness, light alcohol. Caramel sweetish DIPA. Way too sweet for me.

With Z, 500 cc bottle, pours a dark rusty orange color with a tight beige head. Nose is deep bittersweet grapefruit with a tamer amount of pine and resin . Taste is bittersweet grapefruit, with stronger pine and resin notes.....sweetness lends itself with caramel as well. Finish is thick and ends on the same tasting notes with a moderately long bitter ending . Quaff Score 7 / 10

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Visual: Pours pale amber with a decent creamy head, thick ringed retention, half sticky fine lacing, micro bubbles scattered around.
Nose: Belgian candied malts, honey (lvl-8)-pungency
Attack: thick-slick, silky smooth entry
Mid-palate: (lvl-7)-heavy sweetness, rich body, light tangy, (MAIN) date/fig, thick liquid barley malt, honey
Finish: almost salty, alcohol bitter, bitter peel hops, barley malt exhale.
Summary: Wow, solid. Great mouthfeel, intense complexity, big body and hard hitting. A very good sipping and contemplating beer. Mostly dense malty flavours here, whereas I’m more of a spice-floral-fruity-bright kind of beer drinker.

33cl bottle served in a teku glass. Pours hazy light orange with a huge
bubbly white head. Massive piney and clean aroma which obviously transcends into the characteristic resiny taste that you expect from mosaic hops. This was a perfect showcase for the hop and I now know my preference towards mosaic hops which was always the point of this series of beers. Delicious.
