swampwater (13) - Cumbria, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2014
Day 11 of Julepakkekalender from Mikkeller. Bottled.

Aroma: Big raspberry aroma, with a light hop smell.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy gold colour. Medium head. A bit of yeast sediment.
Taste: A sweet orangepeel taste, and a big hit of bitter hops.
Palate: A bitter taste that lingers right through until the aftertaste. Light carbonation. Medium body.
Overall: The smell of raspberry from this beer was amazing. I’m guessing it was the hops used, but I couldn’t stop sniffing it. A nice sweet taste, with a bitter hop taste that lingers on the back of the tongue.

Very cloudy muted orange. Smells very good, loads of grape, oak, grapefruit. Really nice mouthfeel, really thick, sort of sweet, lots of flavor, doesn’t taste very fresh but it certainly is top-notch. loving the malt and hop balance.

Bottle. It pours hazy almost cloudy golden with a creamy white head. The aroma is loaded with the exotic fruity Nelson hop. Passion fruit, burned rubber, cats piss and grapefruit. Bitter fruity flavor with the classic Nelson hop notes. Passion fruit and the rubber thing. Some malty sweetness in the flavor. This hop alone makes the beer extreme. I tend to like Nelson in combination with other hops better than as a stand alone hop but really well made and tasty.

Bottled. Hazy pale amber color, frothy head. Huge hop aroma: ripe/fermented peaches and plums, gooseberry, grapes and a hint of orange and flowers. Somewhat rich and dryish base malt flavor, slightly yeasty, loads of fruity hop juices. Slightly grapefruity yet round and mouthfilling bitterness. No resins. Long aftertaste is a bit sweet. Fresh herbal hop notes in the late finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Good stuff.
