3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Serving: 750 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a hazy, light orange with a billowing off white head. The nose is very herbaceous with nice spicy hop notes and a good bit of yeast. The flavor is very reminiscent of Anchorageís Bitter Monk with a few twists. There is a little citrus, notes of grass, basil and a touch of brett. Light to medium body with lots of soft carbonation and a lingering finish. A pretty tasty brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle. Pours amber with a thick foamy head. It foamed up a lot when poured. A pretty good Belgian IPA. Funky Brett notes with some citrus.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I know this is a really well made beer. However, this style is not for me. Very strong bretty funk up front, with a very long and sharp bitterness that, to me, seemed totally disembodied from the rest of the beer. Overall, very bright and sharp tastes accompanied by a finish that just seems poorly balanced.

[5103-20130202] Bottle. Orange hoppy evergreen peel aroma. Hazy, light orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Sour and bitter evergreen hoppy flavour. Medium body is quite hoppy. Delicious, my favourite of the night. (9/4/9/4/16) 4.2

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pouring at The Festival in Portland with Kramer, Andrew, and J-Dadmond. Pours a hazed gold with a thin white head. Awesome brett and citrus on the nose. Bright citrus, sweet lemon, gently funkiness. Lots of citrus, lots of funk. This is a beautiful thing.

From bottle @ The Festival. Clear golden/yellow with a medium persistent white head and good lacing. Aroma is of intense brettanomyces along with citrus, perfume hops, herbs and spices. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet with tons of fruity brettanomyces, citrus, malt, spices, wood and herbs. Light bitterness. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Moderately dry. Very good farmhouse IPA. Drinkable, fruity, refreshing and tasty!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: A bretty-funky and hoppy-citrusy golden ale. Excellent if you like the concept.
How: Bottle 750ml, corked & caged, consumed a few months after purchase.
The look: Cloudy muddy dark peach color body topped by a large beige head that quickly dissipates to a ring of foam.
In long: Nose is big dirty barnyard-bretty and very citrusy-hoppy. Taste is as expected, funky barnyard brett and sharp citrusy hops blending together harmoniously. Big fluffy body with generous carbonation. There is some caramelized malts to be found here and there but they are buried by the funk and bitter hopping, and thatís totally fine by me. A bit abrasive in the finish with the brett adding coniferous edges over the grapefruity-citrusy bitterness. Not quite to the level of Mikkellerís first batch of US Alive (the batch sold in a corked bottle, before US Alive became what it is today) but still a pretty damn good take on the style. I would love to drink bottles like this all by myself but over the years my wife has become a lover of funky hoppy beers and she drinks from my bottles, so now Iím trying to find a way to fake my own death because I canít afford a divorce attorney.
