Bottle shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Hazy yellow with a big white head. Funky and fruity aroma with seat and nice nice hoppines with tropical fruits and a bit of citrus. Fruity and funky flavor, dry, with light sourish hints, a bit of barnyard, and lovely tropical fruits hops with nice lingering bitterness with citric notes. Medium-bodied, lively-carbonation. Great stuff.

Poured into a snifter. Pouts thin and bubbly. Straw color with a white head. Aroma is predominantly grapefruit and citrus with some pine and sour Brett notes. Flavor is similar to the aroma but with the woodsy notes coming through a little stronger. Not getting much of the sour in the flavor, other than a little tartness, but that could be the hops. Palate is thin with crisp carbonation and mild astringency. I don't think the flavor quite lived up to the nose on this, but still a very unique and quite good IPA.

750mL c&c at Churchkey. Winning formula here, essentially a clone of 3767 and others. Full haze light orange with larger white foam. Good lacing. Nose is fresh Brett B cedar, Devolves with time to something like asparagus. Taste is quite bitter, hefty dustiness. The limit palate wise for bitter and dry approaching walnut skin and shell tannic bitterness. Gets to the edge of that palate incinerating tannic character that makes your taste buds shrivel and die.

Tasted on 5/14/13 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle purchased at Top’s. Pours cloudy orange/yellow with a thick white head that slowly recedes to a thin collar of lace. The nose is really interesting, with grapefruit, lemon, resin hops, grass, spicy yeast, plenty of funk, and some light bread malt. The flavor is much the same with the bread malt up front, moving to the lemon and funky, spicy yeast, and finishing with plenty of bitter grapefruit and resin hops. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long spicy yeast and bitter grapefruit/resin hops finish.

After the cork explodes suddenly, a few seconds after pulling the cage, from the bottle, and I only caught it due to pure instinct, a soft pour into my New Belgium globe glass produces a billowing, seemingly every over-flowing, pale tan colored head. The beer is a light amber color that shows a hazy, orange tinged, pale amber hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells purely of expressive, tropical, and fruity hop notes, but a more focused inspection yields a funky brettanomyces signature that provides hints of medicinal notes, musky, butyric notes, and a touch of a plastic like edge. Floral guava, mango, concentrated peach, kumquat, and lychee all expressively jump from the glass.

The beer is quite dry and hoppy up front but finishes with a sharp Brettanomyces character in the finish that leans towards medicinal and cured plastic notes. Up front the tropical and fruit notes are noticeable, but are much reduced compared to the nose. Still notes of guava, lychee, floral tangelo zest, and kumquat zest are quite noticeable. The beer is quite light bodied, it doesn’t have any real palate heft to it at all, which makes sense considering the dryness, but still does not come off as being thin. The malt is just barely perceptible here, touches of cracker, and perhaps a hint of pale malt nuttiness and some dried straw like notes.

If you are in the mood for a funky, hoppy beer then this is the right one; it can be a bit plastic like in the finish at times, but overall it can still be enjoyable if you can get past this; typically this won’t get tamed much with age either, so drink this while it is fresh and expressively hoppy.

750 ml bottle thanks to lukaduke. Pours a pale straw color with a thin white head of foam. The aroma has some dry, peppery, citrus notes. Tastes peppery, sweet, mildly bitter, and then sweet again in the finish. Overall, a damn nice take on an IPA. I could drink this stuff all the time.
