750 ml bottle. Pours hazy orange amber with a massive, bubbly head that slowly diminishes into a fluffy, foamy pale tan. Sweet, fruity citrus hop aroma bursts from bottle when cork is popped. However, in the glass that aroma is overshadowed by an overwhelming Brett funk...perhaps the most intense Brettanomyces aroma I have encountered. Reminds me of my job cleaning horse stables when I was a kid. Not the typical hint of barnyard, but rather you are right in the stable raking out old hay. Flavor, too, is heavily dominated by Brett, although somewhere beneath lurks a hoppy, citrus-forward IPA. Very bitter and pungent with a long lingering finish. Very lively, effervescent mouthfeel. The flavors don’t come together harmoniously, although this improves slightly as it warms. If you are interested in an intense barnyard experience, give it a try.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a tall white head. Really nice blend of Brettanomyces funk and hops on this one. Lots of citrus qualities of grapefruit and tangerine, light orange peel, as well. Heavy on the pineapple aromas and nice earth and fruit qualities. A touch of bread to open up the palate followed by big hop and Brett flavors. Lots of citrus zestiness and a bit of a tropical character, driven by pineapple flavors. A touch of grass and earth as well as a moderate bitterness and a nice dry finish.

750 ml. corked and caged bottle from Star Grocery. It pours a hazy burnt orange color with a massive off white head. The aroma is decidedly funky with tropical fruit, apricots, hay, horse blanket and mild notes of phenolics. The flavor has lots of dried apricot, horse hair, and a challenging finish of hop bitterness and brett phenolics. The mouthfeel is frothy, but not too distracting. The brett is pretty strong here, and I never understood the whole brett fermented IPA thing. It doesn’t seem to fit well in any senario for my tastes, but this wasn’t too bad. The fruitiness of the hops in the base beer saves it.

Bottle. High velocity from the cork on extraction. Pours with a lightly hazed orange hued body with a large off-white head. Aromas are extremely funky. A new benchmark for barnyard. Lots of horse urine and funk, tropical fruit, straw and hay. Watermelon rind, medium grainy malt. Intensely pungent funk! Flavors are of tropical fruits, pine, sulfur, funk, cheese, tobacco and tangerine. Lots of black pepper phenolics. Manure. Medium esters with a strong bitterness. Extremely lively carbonation, dry finish. Effervescence dominates the mouthfeel. Drinkability suffers due to the outlandish and extreme funk qualities. Decent, but not up to Anchorage’s normal beers. As it warms, the overwhelmingly sharp funk made it harder and harder to drink.

Bottled. Pours a gigantic white head with a touch of liquid. Hazy orange in color. Solid retention. Very bright aroma. Loads of bright sweet orange-grapefruit-grassy notes pushed on by the brett. Medium bitter flavor. Little sweetness. Light body, light-oily texture, average carbonation, and an ultra long, medium bitter, oily, lemony, dry finish.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2012 Fresh 750ml bottle. Hazy rusty amber with a big, long lasting, foamy, beige head. Aroma is old musty decayed wood, lots of citrus/floral hops, medicinal and some faint caramel maltiness. Flavor is very bitter and dry with some alcohol heat and a brett tartness. Medium body with very active carbonation. This is an odd one, the aroma is not so good IMO, very musty in a bad way. Taste is better but the hops and brett seem to be fighting instead of playing well together. Might improve with age.

Been waiting for this one. Thanks La Bodega. Aroma is lots of melded hops and brett funk..huge off white head. Lovely clouded bronze color. Nicely hopped up front...you can tell they dry hopped the hell out of this, follows with a funky slightly off kilter palate of quince and tart citrus flavors. Nice stuff...it will interesting to see how this holds up.
