Pinball (10736) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 6, 2013
37.5cl Bottle. Cloudy brown, large to begin with, but rather soon small offwhite head. Very nice aroma , white wine, mangos fruits, faint wild yeasts, some belgian funk, and some sweet malts. Flavor a little bit disappointing as the fruity stuff is in the background, and you get more malts and booze flavors. The wood bitterness is not a good match to the already malty sweet notes. The wild yeasts add some fizz and belgian yeasty flavors, making the beer more interesting.

Bottle, 375ml. Nice curtains occur, white head. Clear, dark golden body. Vinous, lemony scent with funk and a peppery touch and some tropical fruits. Some spices in the flavor too, itís vinous and lightly woody, with some bitterness. Some lemon. Full body, quite dry, with a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting finish. A really nice one. 131129

Poured medium amber with a frothy off white head. Aroma of sour fruit and caramel malt. Medium body, flavour is quite musty, light tropical fruit, some meat, dry, meaty aftertaste. Not good.

Bottle. Clear orangish red with a thin fluffy off white head. Big horse blanket, barn yard funk, caramel, and sour citrus aroma. Very bright and lively yet soft palate. Tastes of caramel, green apple, mango, sour cherry, white wine and oak with a sharp dry finish.

375ml bottle pours a light golden color with a 2 finger white head that retains well and leaves some spots of lace. Aroma is wine grapes with some citrus and yeast. Taste is a fruity and malty sweetness with a lemony tartness finishing with a yeasty dryness on the palate. I enjoyed sampling this one.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2013 Keg at Mikkeller & Friends one night post-CBC in 2013. Pours cloudy gold with a white foam head. Juicy citrus aroma with bits of grapefruit. Sweet flavor with ripe citrus fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Vaguely funky to finish but with mostly just sweet, juicy ripe citrus. Very good. Tasty. (3.8)

Draft during the Mikkeller Tap Takeover at King William IV - London. Pours clear amber with a strong, off-white head. Ripe fruits in the nose, grapes and berries mostly. Medium sweet flavor with some alcohol presence, light wood, dried fruits and hints of buttery bread. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation and a creamy texture. Moderately warming to finish with light dry wood, semi-dry berries and hints of bitter leaves. Decent.

translucent honey gold, puffy white ring and decent lacing. Yeasty nose is light tea and mango, softly spicy, leathery. Flavor overly sweet, wavy Brett esters with light lemon and pepper. Heavy cobweb through the finish. Pleasant, tons of pineapple and esters all over, very bright.

375ml bottle from Malloyís (Lisle, IL). Popped over when I saw these finally crop up on BeerMenus. Side-by-side with the Grand Marnier version. Pours a nice amber hue, subtle haziness settles out with a nice deeper amber orange glow throughout. A bit darker, the frothy whitish head atop stays as filmy layer, small yet sticks around and laces ok. Aromas show a bit of dank basement, mellow fruit and oak. A touch buttery, some vanilla, melon and gentle citrus elements. Some cobwebs, more brett and oak as we start to settle in. White grape and white peaches, some gentle sweetness mixes with distinct oak, decent funk. A lot going on in this one. A touch sweet and fruit, mellow sourness grows, a bit lactic. Initial is a bit more sour, proving some nice tree fruit, apple and melon meet some white grape, gentle to decent sourness grows as we move on. A bit sweet, bready and doughy malts meet harvest fruit, gentle lactic acidity. Mango, touches of tropical fruit, faint waft of bubblegum. Middle is fruity, quickly moving to that more dry and woody backend. Some tannic play grows, gentle funk and brett. Cobwebs, gentle lactic acidity, a touch yogurty starts to pull at the palate. Gentle spiciness, citrus rind. Kinda loses itís way, not relying much on a wild yeast presence. More fruit, barrel, and funkiness comes forward to me. A bit clunky and messy. Ok. Sweet, wild yeast and sourness could use some growth/time/upped presence. Probably better than the Grand Marnier edition though which seems overpowered and dominated by the barrel choice there.
