2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
I had this on tap several weeks ago at The Davis Beer Shoppe. I believe it was an 8 ounce sample. Just found the rating. The aroma is a bit sweet at first with some mild citrus notes. That aroma dissipates quickly and then it becomes quite musty. Somewhat oxidized. Moderately hazy copper-orange body with a strong, off-white head present. Starts spicy with some mild peppery notes. Becomes quite herbal in the middle. Finishes with mild bitterness. Not too much else happening with this beer. Perhaps there are some Juniper berries here?

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus, Joes and Ansjelaah. Very hazy orange, small white head. Smell balanced sourness, some sweetness, rubber. Taste sourness, some candy sugar, rubber again, some wine indeed. Pretty good. Medium carbonation, medium body.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
0.375l botttle. This one pours a blurry light brown/orange body with a big and almost fluffy off-white head that sticks around for a while. The aroma is really nice; vinious and light wody-tart with Belgian yeast, candy, sweet bubble gum, green grapes, elder flowers and hints of gooseberries. Complex and Delicious. Oh yeah, itís alive alright, and definitely white wine barreled. It has a lively to average carbonation level and a nice light oily mouthfeel. Perfectly light-tart and bretty with notes green grapes, wood, sour gooseberries, white wine vinegar and hints of spicy rosemary and sage. Quite complex, refreshing and really tasty. I served this quite cold (something I almost never do) and that suited it perfectly! My oh my, I finished this way way to fast! 23.01.2012

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home. Bottled 08.11.2010. Hazy, deep orange coloured with a frothy, big and off-white head. Classic flemish sour ale aroma with wood, oak, and bitter berries of rowanberry. Slightly perfumy. Hint of alcohol. The flavours are sweeter with some roasted malt in the end. A fruity taste and a dry mouthfeel like a white wine. Some leather. Slick and silky in the mouth and a little bit crispy on the tongue. Light bitterness. Overall a more easy-drinking and fresher compared with the classic flemish sour ale, and with less sourness. Nice one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
hazy brown pour, light beige head.
big aroma of yeast, tropical fruit, and caramel.
regular mouth feel and carbonation. Flavor is where the white wine barrel really comes out. It added quite a bit of acidity, and some mineral woody flavors. finish was a medium bitterness, with some light woody, vanilla hints.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours cloudy orange with a medium tan head that lasts forever and has rather clumpy but attractive legs. Nose is the sharp funkiness of hay, runny cheese, leather, penicillin. It is rather sweet in the flavor, has a lingering sweet aftertaste. Mouthfeel is chalky. I love it - when I drink it my hands try to do the movements of leatherworking.

Massive Mikkeller Pt.2. Cracked the bottle and got that sour funk aroma instantly. My nostrils perked up and I was jazzed. However the flavor was just sort of "meh". Good sour aroma but somewhat bland flavor.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a deep dark orange body with a big foamy white head. Nose is smooth malty caramel tones with finely tuned brett notes, gooseberries and hints of barnyard funk, molasses and citrus. Taste is a mild caramel backdrop against equally mild bretty funk tones, dry muscat grapes, crisp hops and hints of candy sugar and gooseberries. High carbonation which suits well. Complex and yet very drinkable. Nice one.
