Danish: En vild belgisk ale brygget på: vand, malt (pale og cara), lys kandis, humle (hallertau og styrian golding), gær og brettanomyces. Lagret 7 måneder på hvidvinsfade.

English: It’s Alive!!! Indeed it is. This Belgian Ale has been aged on White Wine barrels to give it that touch of alcohol, while the Brettanomyces give the tartness. Complex but well balanced beer.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some very good lacing. Aroma consists of sour notes with nice vinous feel and dry finish. Taste is a complex mix between some white wine notes and sour notes with a dry tart finish. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with great complexity and great drinkability as well – somewhat reminiscent of Russian River.

750 ml bottle. Hazy amber colour, thick and creamy off-white head. The aroma is sweetish, with a variety of fruit elements, bretta, and floral hops. Dryish malty, fruity and spicy flavour. Aromatic and bitter finish. The carbonation is a little bland, at least in this bottle. Very tasty.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2012 Hazy orange to brown colour, decent size off-white head. Smells sour, brettanomyces, white wine, fruity and some hops. Tastes like rubber, sourish, fresh, fruity, some white wine. Quite okay beer. Good carbo, medium body.

375ml green bottle. Pours amber, big white, noisy head. A bit unclear. Light clinging foam on the glass. Bret nose, sourish. Flavour has dryish malt up front, big bret notes, straw, leather, lemon, ust a hint of wine-like tanginess . Finishes with light sour bret notes, woody-oaky, dry. Light spritzy mouthfeel, lots of fine bubbled carbonation. Great drinkability, does not have the feel of a 9%abv beer.

Bottle, courtesy of Phredrik. Nice, dark amber color with a big, frothy white head. Aroma has a nice, subtle sourness, very fruity and surrounded by some pleasant sweet notes with lots of fruits. sour apples and cherries. The oak comes through with a fairly strong white-wine note which, with a touch of alcohol, gives it a nicely potent nose. Taste has surprising amounts of leather, fruits, yeast, a little oaky sweetness but not much, the wine-notes manifest themselves out of the alcohol and not so much the fruitiness. This gives it a slightly harsh and boozy feel. Could use some dryness and a little more sweetness. Very nice all-in-all though.

Pours nice amber with a large white head. Aroma is full of leathery and white white notes. Hints of whites grapes, gooseberries, some funky brett, horse blanket and the smell of unripe ribs, a bit of hayish malts. Taste has some notes of leather, shoe shine, brett, light sourness, earthy and grassy hoppiness, some spicy yeast notes behind all the leather and funk. The white wine barrel comes more through in the aroma, but the taste also has some spicy and peppery wine notes. Very interesting taste. Mouthfeel is a bit dry, carbonation is really nice. Interesting, but not the best Mikkeller beer out there.
