COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Danish: En vild belgisk ale brygget på: vand, malt (pale og cara), lys kandis, humle (hallertau og styrian golding), gær og brettanomyces. Lagret 7 måneder på hvidvinsfade.

English: It’s Alive!!! Indeed it is. This Belgian Ale has been aged on White Wine barrels to give it that touch of alcohol, while the Brettanomyces give the tartness. Complex but well balanced beer.

375ml green bottle. Pours amber, big white, noisy head. A bit unclear. Light clinging foam on the glass. Bret nose, sourish. Flavour has dryish malt up front, big bret notes, straw, leather, lemon, ust a hint of wine-like tanginess . Finishes with light sour bret notes, woody-oaky, dry. Light spritzy mouthfeel, lots of fine bubbled carbonation. Great drinkability, does not have the feel of a 9%abv beer.

Bottle, courtesy of Phredrik. Nice, dark amber color with a big, frothy white head. Aroma has a nice, subtle sourness, very fruity and surrounded by some pleasant sweet notes with lots of fruits. sour apples and cherries. The oak comes through with a fairly strong white-wine note which, with a touch of alcohol, gives it a nicely potent nose. Taste has surprising amounts of leather, fruits, yeast, a little oaky sweetness but not much, the wine-notes manifest themselves out of the alcohol and not so much the fruitiness. This gives it a slightly harsh and boozy feel. Could use some dryness and a little more sweetness. Very nice all-in-all though.

Pours nice amber with a large white head. Aroma is full of leathery and white white notes. Hints of whites grapes, gooseberries, some funky brett, horse blanket and the smell of unripe ribs, a bit of hayish malts. Taste has some notes of leather, shoe shine, brett, light sourness, earthy and grassy hoppiness, some spicy yeast notes behind all the leather and funk. The white wine barrel comes more through in the aroma, but the taste also has some spicy and peppery wine notes. Very interesting taste. Mouthfeel is a bit dry, carbonation is really nice. Interesting, but not the best Mikkeller beer out there.

Tap at Vandaag. Deep hazy amber pour. Creamy thick head. The aroma is soft and minerally with a lot of brett funk and soft crackery malt. A lot of fruit on the front of the palate with pineapple, mango, and a bit of raspberry as well. Sweeter than I was expecting even tnough the flintiness of the brett does come through quite a bit. It’s definitely too sweet, but there’s a lot of potential in this glass.

Glowing amber haze with pearl like bubbles floating up to the top of my glass, the crown is thick tall and dish soapy, Sour, very sour, and some more sour in the aroma. I can a pick up oak, Belgium yeasty yum, some wheat, some spice……but not really spice more of an odorless sharpness that I’m calling spice. There is even a out of place but pleasant odor of a cherry Lambic somehow in here. The more I smell the more the funk comes out. Taste is better!!!, nice sour, good wood, I even get the white wine. LEMON!! The wine is not at the front of the flavor it’s probably the third to fourth flavor you pick up. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! My long time beer review pen just died!!!!!!! I’ve been using this pen for reviews for 2 years now, sad, sad day, how will I ever go on? Ok I’m better now found a new pen. The wheat really shows up in the back of the throat, can you say banana? Nice sharp peppery spice comes out but not on every sip. Brew gets thicker and more malty the longer you let it sit, the sour and wine start to fade………………not sure how I like it better! Nice interesting beer it didn’t rock my world but it was still yum.
