Danish: En vild belgisk ale brygget pŚ: vand, malt (pale og cara), lys kandis, humle (hallertau og styrian golding), gśr og brettanomyces. Lagret 7 mŚneder pŚ hvidvinsfade.

English: Itís Alive!!! Indeed it is. This Belgian Ale has been aged on White Wine barrels to give it that touch of alcohol, while the Brettanomyces give the tartness. Complex but well balanced beer.

Poured from a 375ml bottle into a wine glass. Unknown bottle date Nose: grapes, apple cider, slight cider vinegar, tons of funk; socks. Lots of cardboard in the nose Appearance: very hazy amber. Little clarity at all to this. Cream colored head bordering on brown that doesn't go away. Taste: dry white wine - grapes, apricots, spices, almost a cinnamon note. Little bit of almost sour brown sugar to it - not sweet but has the dark sugar note. Sour apple. Lingering funkiness in the finish. Lots of socks and Brett funk the whole time. Palate: pretty thin, very tight carbonation. Almost like a mineral water type carbonation. Not a ton of body. Overall: hard to say on this beer without a bottle date. Estimates put it around two years old at most, probably at least a year. Was hoping for more tart to this but presumably the Brett has gone wild here. Not bad though, just not what I had hoped for

Bottle to tulip Aroma of lemon, wine, and a touch of funk with a candyish aroma in the background. Itís an almost clear reddish amber with a mottled tan and white frothy head with lots of lacing. Taste is a Bretty sourness with an apple sauce and grape kind of sweetness along with a load of funk.

Visual: Pours cloudy maple syrup brown with a smallish ultra-creamy lasting head, tons of very sticky lacing, several very active streams. Nose: woody sour apple cider with substantial funk (7/10-pungency) Attack: light-pukey up front Mid-palate: controlled (5/10)-sweetness, mild sourness/tang, creamy-fizzy mouthfeel, (MAIN) intense woodiness, very yeasty, apple-malt, light-moderate funk/mild puke Finish: residual wet-wood, soft sweet-bitter hops, woody exhale-hoppy finish. Summary: Most woody, but actually quite drinkable after you get accustomed to it. I like the gray version better.

Iím on the fence I this one because the first one. I ever had blew me away but the second time not as impressive. Liked it both times but I guess I was so disappointed from the first attempt that it lowered my rating some. Maybe the first time I may have had a few other bottles to myself and it inflated the experience, that happens to me a lot.

375ml bottle in a tulip. Pours cloudy copper with an off-white head. Aroma of funk/tartness, some light wine, caramel malts, and some fruits/spices. Flavor the same with a nice blend of everything. Average texture. A Pretty good beer.

Bottle. Almost a rich dark whiskey hue with a thin white head. Woody, light funky hay, vinous, some darker fruits in the aroma. Flavor is very similar, vinous, slight fruit sweetness, woody funk, and light gape finish. Medium slick body.

(bottle - 375 ml) Coppery/orange pour with a thin white head. Dry bitter and tart Brett aroma with some dry wine notes under it. Sour and smoother than the Grand Marnier edition with the barrel more prevalent and taking away some of the acidic notes.

Bottle. Kind of clear hazelnut brown with a large diminishing off white good lacing foamy head. Aroma has barnyard, berries, sweet grapes, wood, light glue or shoe polish like notes. Medium body, light dry, light bitter, medium sweet. It took a while, but Iím really starting to appreciate these light barrel aged beers. Soft and slow drinking with lots of complexity.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2015 Pours a light copper with a medium offwhite head that leaves great lacing, Aroma is fruity and full of brett funky leather and barnyard. Taste is fruity and dry with some nice and distinct winey flavors. Body is medium, mouthfeel really nice and juicy. Old faithful Itís Alive never disappoints!

Update: A second bottle seemed a little less transcending, with a final score of 3.8. Between my original score of 4 and this one Iím just doing an average. A really good wild ale, still.

A bretty beer with white wine characteristics. Somewhat funky, leaving it for a few months gave it a drinkable edge.
