COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Dark honey color with two fingers head. Aroma of white wine, citrus, passion fruit, brown sugar, peach, orange zest, caramel, rape bananas. Taste is light sweet, a bit sour, light bitter. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Interesting.

Massive pillowy tan head on top of clean copper brew. Aroma has an acetic note with a hint of earthy hop and some Brett funk. This sat for a bit over a year. The flavor is interesting and complex. Flowery hop at first followed by a bit of bread. This has gotten really "Bretty" but avoids the horse blanket effect. A bit tart and fruity on the finish. Like it a lot

Draft at Sybarite Pig in Boca Raton, FL. Snifter. Pours an amber-orange with a very thick, fluffy white head. Lacing good. Aroma of floral notes, leather, earth, and yeasts. Taste of brett, leather, flowers, earth, grass and balanced malts. Bitter, sour, dry finish but well done.

750ml served in a Duvel Tulip. A - Pours a clear and beautiful orange amber with a giant 3 finger rocky head that forms cavernous mountains of foam. Incredible 3/4 inch 3D lacing. S - Strong barnyard funk, horse blanket, dry hay, dusty grain, lemongrass, honey, lavender, old leather, musty wood. T - Sweet malt with some grassy grain, green apple skins, powdery yeast, honey, pears, lavender. Minty herbal hops and muted orange citrus come out on the finish. M - Ultra smooth carbonation, medium body, dry finish. Wow! One of the funkiest aromas I’ve ever come across from a beer. The taste followed the nose only way less funk. The funk almost rounds out the flavors. Very good especially if you like funky brews. I enjoyed this one with some aged cranberry white cheddar. Serving type: bottle 01-02-2012

Keg @ Port st beer house Mcr. very similar to Orval but without the complexity of mouthfeel and unique carbonation. There are citrus notes, brett (obviously) and loads of hops. Lacked the soapy hay barnyard zest of Orval. A good attempt at a clone.

Bouteille 750ml.

Bottle. Tremendous pour ... There’s an orange-amber beer somewhere under that pile of active, rocky foam. The aroma is pure goodness, rife with the scents of great farmhouse brewing. This is a delicious drink, too ... light and easily quaffable, yet full of well-balanced textures ... yeasty malt, fruity esters ... There’s a bit of spring grass here. This is some amazing stuff ... I want more. (#4998, 5/2/2013)
