Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

Itís Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. Itís Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes Itís Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Draught. Pours cloudy dark orange with a moderately lasting off white head. Aroma of oranges, clove, hint of spice, honey. Taste is of blood orange, lemon, spice, clove, slight heat of alcohol on the finish. Medium carbonation, really refreshing. Gorgeous.

Hanasta Willam K Kurvissa 6/2015. Quite easy beer, taste is more mild than one could suggest considering the abv.

Tap. Small head. Murky dark amber. Yeast and raisins on aroma. Strong, dry, malty, raisins. Bit too strong for the taste maybe. More aventinus-like than Orval type, maybe.

750ml bottle with dnicolaescu and artemb. Hazy copper body, good beige head. A very bland aroma: lots of malt, some yeast and a touch of orange zest. Taste of malts, herbs, yeast, brown sugar. Can I have the Orval instead?

Aroma: dead water, low hop notes. Taste: light sweeteness, light sourness. Flavour: Water, washing-up liquid, soap. Light bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall this was unfresh and unpleasent (BB: 2020)

BOTTLE 75 CL. Hazy amber, light tan head. Aroma is huge caramel sweetness with traces of citrus hops - smells like an old IPA really. tastes sweet, again traces of citrus hops, a moderate bitter finish with notes of plastic and mould. A tribute to Orval? Youíre kidding...

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours hazy amber with large cream head. Fruitier than I expected with some hedgerow berries gatecrashing the party. Lovely complex brett with smooth floral yeast. Decided to age a bottle of this to see how it develops.

Bottle picked up in the Mikkeller beer shop. Slightly cloudy copper, frothy lasting white head. Yeast notes in the aroma, loads of spice too, amber malt. Peppery spice flavour, dries out toward the finish. Light body for the big abv. Fizzy and zesty. Really excellent.
