Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Very nice brew. Typical Belgian advanced by brett and load of hops – nice fruitiness, citrus lemon, grapefruit, huge malty backgorund, caramel, bit yeasty. Moderate sweetness with light sourness and moderate bitterness. Well balanced and enjoyable

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a clear amber with a a nice soapy off-white head that leaves a film throughout. Nice biscuit, fruity yeast nose with some cherry, apricot and light booze. Taste is more of the same with the cherry really standing out as it warms up a bit. Has some nice spice and light bitterness as well. Quite complex. Fruit-forward and lightly boozy finish.

Mikkeller it’s alive 8% Bottle at Yamaoka. A rich bready marshmallow with some boozey heat & funk. A lovely Amber brown pour with a dense beige long-lasting head in my tulip glass. Nice flavor of chocolate buns, yeasty stone fruit & light spice. Very enjoyable.

Just a hint of the Brett influence, which is enough to deflect from the normal Belgian ale sweetness .

Bottle. Clear orange with fluffy white head. Aroma of malt and caramel, biscuit, candi sugar and brett funk. Taste of biscuit, pesch, herbs and low level of funk. Low bodied, with dry and medium bitter finish. In the finish some alcohol shows up, but it is not unpleasant. In overall nice interpretation of the legend.

On tap, Le Šenk. Clear orange/amber colour with quickly falling white head. Aroma gingerbread, cinnamon, clove, Brett almost not, what quite dissapointed me. Taste similar. Quite dry, some alcohol. For me a bit bitter for that style. I expected a lot more.
