COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

Itís Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. Itís Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes Itís Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Draught at ōrsted. Bright orange/coppercoloured. Thin white head, that disappeares rather quickly. The aroma hits you with hops and a boatload of citrus (mostly limes and grapefruit). Brett aromas of moist wood and some horsy aromas too. On the palate it is razorsharp! All of the above mentioned elements are there in the taste plus a hint of sage and just a touch of rosemary. Modest bitterness mingles with firm sourness in a very dry and refreshing finale, that just goes on and on. I could still taste it as I went home 30 minutes after drinking the last sip. If there is one thing that should be considered in developing the recipe for future brews, it would be that the alcoholcontent of 8% by vol. doesnít really add anything to the beer in terms of volume or complexity. I feel that the beer would probably be just as good at around 6% alcohol, but who knows? But once again, Iíve found a new current favourite beer, and once again itís from Mikkeller.

Bottle. Sensoric. Deep amber, medium hazy with semi-densed, white head. NIce brett aroma with nice, sweet carmale notes. Plesant funky notes - citrus, apple, wood. Little bit dull and boring comparing to BA versions, but still interesting. Taste is dominantly semi-dry broken by semi-sweet malty notes. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, finish is brett and caramel. Nice, drinkable, refreshing beer for begginers of wild ales.

Bottle 330 ml, pours cloudy dark amber with high, pillowy white head. Aroma of caramel, herbs, barnyard and white wine. In taste mainly sweetness with some nice bitterness in finish. I expected it will have a bit of sourness in itís wildness. All in all nice drinkable considering the abv.

W aromacie karmel, lekkie owoce, kwaśność w dzikim typie, słodkie białe wino, landrynki. Nalewa się z wysoką, dosyć rzadką i szybko opadającą kremową pianą. W barwie bursztynowe, dosyć klarowne. W smaku karmelowe, z nutami opiekanymi, brzoskwiniowe estry, przyprawowość, lekka winność. Raczej słodkie. Mocno wysycone. Delikatna kwaśność. Dzikości od brettůw nie wyczuwam - zapewne została przykryta uciążliwym karmelem. Goryczka niewysoka ale obecna - ziołowa z lekką podbudową alkoholową. Dosyć ciężkie i zamulające

Piana obfita, kremowa, trwała i z ładnym lejsingiem. Barwa bursztynowa, opalizująca. Aromat raczej słodki i dość delikatny, czuć białe owoce (gruszki, agrest, liczi, ananas), czuć suszone morele, mandarynki, sporo nut dzikich, stajennych i kwiatowych.
Udane piwo, godnie nawiązujące do Orvala. Po dłuższej chwili degustacji pojawia się tu nuta landrynkowa, ktůra nieco zaburza przyjemność spożycia... Powoli mogę chyba nazwać się Brett Headíem? :)
