Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

Itís Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. Itís Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes Itís Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Lightly hazy with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, sour and citrus without really smelling like anything in particular. More yeast and fruit on the tongue.

75cl bottle at Timís place. Thx for sharing todayís beers! APPEARANCE: clear dark blond beer, huge stable off white head. NOSE: little sour, sweet, some wood, quite hoppy. TASTE: high in carbo in the beginning, fades away after a while. Sweet, little sour. In general a nice effort to clone Orval. Nose is very much alike, the taste is less similar. But very nice beer altogether. Slightly aged sample

Hazy golden copper. Small white head. Candy aroma with a lot of belgian yeast aroma. Lightly sour. A little too sweet for repeatability.

A- Apricot hue with a small, fizzy head that fades quickly. S- Perfumey, lemon, sour cherry, apricot, citrus. T- Hop up front, peppery, followed by perfume and a light hop bitterness. M- Medium bodied and effervescent. D- Interesting beer that gets better with every sip. Would definitely give it a try again.

Orange, amber color, with a fizzy, soon disappearing head. Fruity, sour aromas of orange and peach, also grass. Sour Brettanomyces driven first impression, coated up by bready, soft malts. Also ripe, fruity orange, which goes well with the sourness. Then dry, noble hops hit the palate, which give the beer a well balanced, decent complexity. Sweet molasse becomes detectable for a glance, which soon gets swallowed by the hoppy sourness. This actually reminds me of Orval in some way, but adds a very well fitting fruit note to the beer, while it isnít very aggressive on the hops. Leads to a bitter finish, very dry aftertaste, which dries up the mouth completely.

Poured from 375mL bottle. Clear light copper with white head. Aroma of sweet malt with sour notes. Flavour is caramel, sweet malt, and a subtle sourness in the background. Very well balanced, but could be a little stronger flavour.
