COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Pours a somewhat hazy burnt orange with a frothy, dense head with good stability that leaves heavy lacing. Aroma is not very strong; citrus hops. Taste is bright and sweet, with toasted malt flavors, at first. It has a sour middle, and a moderately bitter, hoppy finish with hints of orange rind and pine trees. Medium body and carbonation, with plenty of frothy head in each sip.

Bottle 330 ml, pours cloudy dark amber with high, pillowy white head. Aroma of caramel, herbs, barnyard and white wine. In taste mainly sweetness with some nice bitterness in finish. I expected it will have a bit of sourness in it’s wildness. All in all nice drinkable considering the abv.

W aromacie karmel, lekkie owoce, kwaśność w dzikim typie, słodkie białe wino, landrynki. Nalewa się z wysoką, dosyć rzadką i szybko opadającą kremową pianą. W barwie bursztynowe, dosyć klarowne. W smaku karmelowe, z nutami opiekanymi, brzoskwiniowe estry, przyprawowość, lekka winność. Raczej słodkie. Mocno wysycone. Delikatna kwaśność. Dzikości od brettów nie wyczuwam - zapewne została przykryta uciążliwym karmelem. Goryczka niewysoka ale obecna - ziołowa z lekką podbudową alkoholową. Dosyć ciężkie i zamulające

Piana obfita, kremowa, trwała i z ładnym lejsingiem. Barwa bursztynowa, opalizująca. Aromat raczej słodki i dość delikatny, czuć białe owoce (gruszki, agrest, liczi, ananas), czuć suszone morele, mandarynki, sporo nut dzikich, stajennych i kwiatowych.
Udane piwo, godnie nawiązujące do Orvala. Po dłuższej chwili degustacji pojawia się tu nuta landrynkowa, która nieco zaburza przyjemność spożycia... Powoli mogę chyba nazwać się Brett Head’em? :)

If this is tribute to Orval then I have to say that that the student has out-learnt the master

75cl bottle @El Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo. 03-11-2015.
BBd: i was not so fast so i couldn´t take the cap before someone throw it away...
In short: straight forward tart beer.
Pours hazy golden with frothy whie head. Little horse blanket and barnyard nose. Moderate tart, dry finish. Ok beer, i guess too straight forward, lacking some more complexity.

330 ml bottle from Gallagher’s Beer World/El Irlandés. Pours a nice hazy amber color with a medium white frothy head that diminishes slowly and leaves an irregular film. Fantastic yeasty/wild aroma of tart apples, kiwi, Dijon Mustard, some funk, Riesling Late Harvest, Jägermeister and other sour notes. Fruity hints of pommegranate and some green fruits. Honey/citrus touches with some palm syrup and few spices here and there. Hoppy, citrusy aromas are very clear in the background but never take the central spot. Moderately intense sourness with touches of fruity sweetness. Wide array of flavors with loads of apple, pommegranate and a strong lime/honey character that combines in different ways as the beer warms up. Not really strong but very nice. Light to medium body, high carbonation contributes to drinkability as well as the disguised alcohol content. Sticky sour finish and long aftertaste. This one is a really nice brew, maybe not world class act but a delicious and highly drinkable Belgian (strong) Ale. Light, flavorful and well integrated.
