Brewed by Mikkeller at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.
Mikkellers tribute to the foul-mouthed stewardess Jackie Brown from Quentin Tarantino’s movie of the same name. It’s a roasty, chocolaty brown ale with hints of coffee and licorice. Being a Mikkeller brew the malts are inevitably complimented by a great amount of hop bitterness, aroma and flavour.
Ingredients : Water, malt (pale, munich, cara-pils, cara-crystal, brown and chocolate), flaked oats, hops (nugget, simcoe and centennial) and ale yeast.

Rating 100!! Only took me about 4 years to get!!! Aroma is pretty good, little chocolaty, good amount of licorice, and some nuttiness. Appearance is spot on, it’s brown, well carbonated and clear. Flavor is solid, I get some nuttiness, a little licorice backed up with a malty backbone. I do get some astringency in the finish which is a shame. The description mentions a good amount of hop bitterness, but I’m not noticing too much hops with this beer. Mouthfeel is alright, body is a little light for what I would expect based on the aroma and taste. Carbonation is good. Again, get a bit of astringency in the finish. Overall, not bad, aroma is great, appearance is spot on, flavor and palate are a bit marred by a bit of astringency. It’s worth trying at least.

Astonishing balance between all flavors, roasted, chocolate and caramel, drank lukewarm and maybe it’s better this way. They say not all mikkeller beers are mind blowing but maybe this is one of these.

Bottle. Sensoric. Deep brown with light brown, densed, medium head. Very good lacing and head retention. Nose is malty, coffee and a bit milk chocolate, ashy, grainy. Taste is highely bitter, acidic. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, finish is long bitter and creamy. In overall nice, highly hoppy brown ale.

33cl bottle. Almost clear brown colour with a fine tan head. Caramel, chocolate, roasted and licorice in the aroma. Average to soft carbonation and medium body. Taste is balanced with some chocolate and light pine notes and a dry bitter finish. Overall, a very nice beer.

The first version of this beer was amazing but the recent one i had was nothing like it. It was lacking a lot of maltiness to back up the huge amount of hops. It seemd to have changed from fat and hoppy to some kind of astringent dark IPA, without that much finesse in the hop character.

Une très belle brune maltée et épicée tout en gardant de la fraîcheur de la longueur et de l’amertume.
