3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rating 100!! Only took me about 4 years to get!!!
Aroma is pretty good, little chocolaty, good amount of licorice, and some nuttiness. Appearance is spot on, it’s brown, well carbonated and clear. Flavor is solid, I get some nuttiness, a little licorice backed up with a malty backbone. I do get some astringency in the finish which is a shame. The description mentions a good amount of hop bitterness, but I’m not noticing too much hops with this beer. Mouthfeel is alright, body is a little light for what I would expect based on the aroma and taste. Carbonation is good. Again, get a bit of astringency in the finish. Overall, not bad, aroma is great, appearance is spot on, flavor and palate are a bit marred by a bit of astringency. It’s worth trying at least.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear copper-brown colour with a lightly tan pillowy-creamy fine poring head with excellent lacings. Aromas of a mix of tropical fruit and toasty malt develop with notes of subtle barnyard develop. Light lively, soft bit slick texture and a surprisingly light-medium body. Light roast malt, chocolate and instant coffee sweet-bitterness with a well pronounced fruityness rounding the malt center of. Developping chocolate-fruity bitterness develops on the finish and has its momentum.

Brune un rien rougeatre, effervescence moyenne, col beige abondant. Plutôt maltée en entrée, caramel, amertume fruitée, café, rôtie mais pas trop, légèrement réglissée.

Bottle. Brown with frotty head. In aroma roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, some fruity esters - nice in overall. In taste roasted malt, caramel, malt, medium bitterness. A little too low body, beer was a bit watery. To sum up - very nice brown ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, Delhaize. Weird to find Mikkeller in a supermarkt here. Brown ale, coffee-ish nose, but also hops. Quite balanced, bit of caramel propelled by carbonation. Decent, standard brown ale.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Delhaize. I always expected Mikkeller to become a global brand but it is still a real shock to being able to buy a Mikkeller beer in a supermarket in Belgium. Drank as “Brown / Jackie”. BBF 10/03/2017. Dark brown amber, mocha head. Lacing. Creamy mocha, bit thin, faint roast chocolate & rather big blue cheese hops (Sorachi Ace?). Taste is light bitter mocha roast, blue cheese hops, mocha powder, milk chocolate, creamy, oats, lactose, grainy, powdery, instant chocolate milk,… Grainy & very creamy body. Highly delicious, I love blue cheese hops. At least that is how they taste to me, not sure how they taste to others, I usually associate the taste with Sorachi Ace. Amazing stuff & this is a Brown Ale. Wowza.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Found this and a few other Mikkellers in a local Delhaize supermarket, to my utmost delight... I wonder why it is called "Jackie Brown" here: the label litterally says "Brown / Jackie". Anyway: thickly lacing, light yellowish beige, medium thick, dense head over a hazy, dark wine red coloured beer. Rustic, malty aroma of burning wood, roasted pinenuts, bitter chocolate, hazelnut oil, almonds, black pepper, dates, orange peel hops (more so than normal for the style), freshly grated nutmeg, ginger powder, cranberries, very attractive. Taste begins with a restrained, elegant fruitiness (berries, dates, perhaps a faint banana suggestion), medium carbonated, evolving into a gracious, lean, pleasantly nutty and somewhat caramelly maltiness, lightly toasted, supple and subduedly sweetish; finish is equally malty, with a fair amount of peppery and earthy hop bitterishness on top of it, more so than usual for this style. Best viewed as an American-style brown ale I guess; I did expect a sweeter maltiness actually, but the unexpected hop bitter ending sure made up for that.
