SQNfan (388), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Apr 24, 2008 Solid brown in color with a thick white head. Aromas of piney hops, light caramel and chocolate with some spice toward the back end. The palate is medium-bodied and tart with the bitter hops dominating the malt. A good beer but not my favorite Mikkeller.

Dark reddish brown coloured, big pale beige head, light roasted nose with notes of chocolate. Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and mild hoppy taste with notes of caramel and wood. Strong bitter finish. JCB (889), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 20, 2008 500ml from Bruisin Ales, Asheville, delivered to me by the great Turdferguson - thanks, Sam! Nice full pour with lots of lively carbonation, and an impressive cafe au lait head on it. The aroma is very roasty and the flavor’s a complex take on a hoppy brown, with some fruits in there, bitter chocolate, some modest coffee. Well done. Vas19 (202), Maryland, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nice roasty malt and hop aroma with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is hoppy and sweet with a strong bittersweet chocolate finish. That sweet hoppiness may be slightly out of balance but this is still a nice beer. DocHop (178), College Park, Maryland, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours a murky, plum brown with a medium, full, tan head. Aroma of raisins, caramel, plum, and roasted malts. Very roasted brew, with a somewhat dry hop finish. The malts only let on a little sweetness, most of the flavor is a burnt coffee that lingers on the tongue. Pretty good brown ale. The body is a little thin, but much respect for Mikkeller. robforbes (641), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 18, 2008 pours brown with a large creamy tan head, excellent lacing.
smell of roasted nuts, malt, cocoa, some coffee, a bit of woodiness in the back.
taste is smooth and creamy, hops, roastiness, malt, bakers chocolate, a splash of espresso, some nuts, end is slightly sour and nicely bitter.
