TET (2054) - FINLAND - MAR 7, 2015
A hazy, light yellow beer with a quite big and blond head. Aroma is fresh, grapefruits and generic citrusfruits, water melon, weak hint of pils like grain and grass. Taste has grapefruits, some other fruits, hint of grass, strong bitterness that is slighlty grassy in the end. Medium bodied, quite strong carbonation, palate is smooth enough. Nice beer, the grapfruits are quite dominating but still the notes of pils are also there.

>> Pours sparkling clear deep gold, a little darker than expected, more Czech pils color. Thick, ultra rocky foam, fisheye retention. Perfect lacing. Nose is more in the vein of "unfresh import IPA" than pilsner. There is dried orange peel, kumquat, potpourri...but as it warms it gains almost pure honey biscuit/bread...thick enticing maltiness. Taste at the beginning had a grassy/metallic bite...as it warms it gains juicy kumquat, dense honey roll, and aggressive dry hop bite. Long, balanced finish. Really want to dish out higher scores for this one, but it isn’t fresh. Still, pilsner is just a superior beer style when not super fresh compared to IPA/APA.

Mikkeller Keeper has a thick, slightly off-white head, a semi-clear, bubbly gold appearance, with powdery sediment, throughout. Lacing is profoundly heavy. The aroma is interesting- sweet, bready, yeasty, and even some cream cheese cake icing (in other words, it smells like a cream ale). Taste is of sweet, bitter, bready, yeasty lager, and the mouthfeel is medium and rustic. Mikkeller Keeper finishes somewhat dirty, but quite drinkable, and I thought it was remarkable how it took on a cream ale aspect, as it settled down. RJT

Couleur dorée translucide avec un col blanc assez résistant. En bouche levure pils, céréales, fruits tropicaux. Très bien balancé. Une des meilleures Pilsner a mon gout! Très raffraichissante en meme temps d’etre complexe pour une pilsner!

Can. Pours clear gold, nearly saffron-colored, with small white head and nice lacing. Aroma is grassy hops with floral undertones and cotton candy, peach gummis, orange peel, biscuit, sticky malts, and rosemary. Taste is doughy malts and toasted grain with a nice mixture of citrus and tropical notes along with lemon peel, white grape, and a pronounced piney finish. Interesting pale ale/pils hybrid; I’d put this more in the former category than the latter, particular as it warms and the heavier malts and yeast character come through. Solid, fresh-tasting beer.

Hoppy aroma packed with grapefruit, lemon, green pepper & clementine. Clear golden with large, long lasting, white head. Bitter taste of green pepper & orange peel. Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation & long bitter finish.

Icy cold beer from Sly Fox. Funny, mik’s brewd right here in PA, funny fer sure. From a can this stuff pours hazy yellow with a tad of orange. First swig is piercing pils then this fruity thing takes aver. Each swig is the same, piercing pils then some fruit. Hop bitterness builds thru the session. Decent co2, just enough to know its there. Yes, good ol old country pils brewed right here in PA. Go figger.
