Bebida en la tienda "La domadora y el león" de Nerja, Málaga. En una botella de 330ml lo primero que se aprecia es el aroma a alcohol que desprende. No se le aprecia apenas espuma y de bajo amargor. No es ideal para principiantes.

Dark orange colour with a beige head. Rich aromas and a taste which is sweet, but very complex with notes of candied fruit, tangerine, pineapple, resin and leather. The alcoholic strength is surprisingly well hidden but is definitely there! A lovely, well-made beer, close to a barley wine in style. A really great Imperial IPA which can be savoured with great pleasure.

Yop, shared by Brian. This bad boy is a Barleywine, no doubt. Pours very hazy dark hazel, small beige head, some lacing. Aroma is sticky caramel and pine and booze. Flavor is very sweet, lots of sugars and pine, medium bitter with a boozy bite. Medium body, quite hot and alcoholic. Not my favorite.

With Z , July 4th evening, pours a clear light rusty gold color with an ephemeral beige head. Nose has champagne notes with alcohol and hops. Taste is bitter sweet with strong alcohol and hard resin and pine notes, and well balanced... enough to taste some caramel, toffee and malt. Finish is bitter sweet, with the bitterness accentuated along with the alcohol, ending is dry and long. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Bottle. Pours a rusty orange with a beige head and aroma of Citrus, pine, and light spice. Taste is strong, with citrus, pine, caramel, spice notes with hops leading to a bitter, warming, dry finish.

Smallish offwhite head. Clear amber body until I poured the dregs in. Full toffee raisins and nuts aroma with earthy alcoholic notes. Intense sweet toffee and syrup taste with resiny notes. Full-bodied. Sharpish, hot mouthfeel. Bitter resiny fruity aftertaste with syrupy toffee notes. Lingering wooden notes. Age has mellowed this into something that’s not exactly easy drinking, but neither is it offensive. Very full of flavour, and not exactly balanced. (0.33l bottle, I have no idea where from. BBD July 2023.)

APPEARANCE - Opaque, cloudy, no head, some lacing, amber. AROMA/SCENT - Hops, sweet, pine, malts. TASTE - Hops, bitter, pine, nutty, caramel, brown sugar, bread, toffee MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Thick, no carbonation, smooth, creamy, warming, heavy, syrupy. VALUE - $7.99 for 12-oz bottle. Good deal for import? OVERALL/DRINKABILITY - ABV surprisingly well-hidden. I wish there was a bit more carbonation, but what do you expect at ABV 14%?

Bottled. Drinking this 02/24/15. No idea what the bottling date is. Pours clear orange ruby color. Small white ring of lacing. Aroma is like a really hoppy barleywine. Lots of heat from the 14%. Sweet sticky toffee, some fig and date notes, maybe a bit of burnt sugar, honey, some citrus (orange), grapefruit. Very complex aroma. Flavor is hoppy, boozy, lots of toffee, fig, vanilla notes. Bitter finish. This drinks 100% like a barleywine. Hoppy finish. Reminds me of 21st Amendment’s lower da boom (which is a favorite of mine). I’ve been told this drinks like aged DFH 120. I have never had DFH 120, but that’s supposed to drink like a barleywine over time. This is exactly that. Great beer.
