23/03/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Nera, impenetrabile, con schiuma scura, un po’ disomogenea e con bolle grossolane, color cappuccino. Aroma di malti tostati, caffè, vaniglia, cioccolato. In bocca ha un attacco dolce, è molto simile alla Imperial Stout della Nøgne Ø, ma più carbonata e un filo meno cremosa. Sul finale spiccano nettamente note amarognole di caffè. Corpo medio, carbonazione abbondante. Buona.

Sample @ Ölrepubliken. Pours pitch black with a nice creamy brown head. Aroma is strong floral honey in front roasted malts on back. Flavor is sweet, pungent, bitter and roasted; very nice. Finishes bitter sweetish and roasted.

Biggish deep dark brown head. Opaque black body. Roasty honey
and lacquered wood aroma with resiny earthy notes. Dry-sweet
roasty chocolatey honey taste with plastic whiskey notes.
Fullish body. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel with some alcohol
heat. Dryish roasty whiskey aftertaste with chocolatey honey and
resiny plastic notes. Really nice and smooth, except for the
weird resiny plastic thing. (0.5l bottle.)

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2011 Bevuta alla spina alla Brasserie 4:20 (Roma) - Imperial stout di gran classe. Nera impenetrabile con schiuma color cappuccino scuro. Aroma di caffè, vaniglia, cioccolato. In bocca parte dolce, simile alla Imperial Stout della Nøgne Ø, ma più carbonata e un filo meno cremosa, spiccano nettamente note di caffè e liquirizia, ma anche cioccolato e vaniglia, con un buon finale amaro. Forse troppo carbonata, ma nel complesso ottima.

Black with a big dark brown head. Aroma is sweet, hard roasted malt, burnt, honey and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and very bitter. Dry and bitter finish with warming alcohol. 070510

Draught at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg. Black beer with a creamy brown head. Smooth licorice and chocolate aroma, vanilla and tar notes, roasted, smoked, a little vinous and some figs. Licorice and tar flavor, viol, cocoa, smoked notes, roasted, figs and raisins and with a vinous touch. Alcohol is wel hidden and it ends in a salty way with cocoa and licorice.

Draught. Black thick liquid with a dark brown head that disappears quickly but leaves some lacing. Aroma: tobacco, chocolate liqueur, honey. Taste: chocolate liqueur, tobacco (but no smoke), honey, soy sauce, coffee bitterness, salty licorice, dark chocolate, cacao, maybe some berries, long bitter finish. Full-bodied with quite a fizzy mouthfeel. Heavy and interesting, grows on you.
