4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, unexpectedly shipped from my father—thanks so much, dude! It’s an 11.2 FL OZ/331 mL bottle containing an inky brown-black combination with an ascending, amazingly fluffy mocha head, 4½. fingers in length which gradually sank to just 1½.. I may have to stand back the aromas are so intensely complex, but what I get almost immediate is: charcoal bricks, chili peppers (it most certainly teases the nostrils), cardamom spiciness (keyword here: "earthy"), chocolate almond milk (ironically, I had bought some recently and the nose is quite reminiscent of that), Dutched chocolate, tangerine peels (yes, there is indeed some citrus in this bitch, especially on the nose), wheat flour, cinnamon rolls/doughnut glaze, celery sticks, aluminum (oh, you know what I fuckin’ mean), Kero syrup, wormwood, anise, avocados (strangely, the avocado comes through in the aroma really strongly; didn’t think it would), pancake butter, pomegranates, roasted malts, brown sugar, and limeade. Tastes deliciously well-rounded, bittersweet, roasted, nutty, charred, and leathery with notes of chili pepper heat, almond butter, avocados, bay leaves, dark chocolate, burnt hay, and spent grains. Ends bitter and earthy; hops, spruce tips, white tea and bacon grease by swallow. Transformative! And I was starting to think that Mikkeller didn’t brew any beer worth good money. Fantastic fill!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Really solid looks, large tasty foam. Not quite the bizarre beer I was afraid of. A good thing. It?s a nice stout. Chocolate and roasted aromas, bit on the rough edge, but just because it has no brown sugar or filtered characters, which is a good thing. Enjoyable beer. Perhaps not super complex in the taste and very bitter, but I don?t mind. And for the abv it has a great body! (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pretty interesting stuff. Strong roasted malt and spice and other earthy aromas. Dark chocolate with a brown foamy head. Thick and weighty palate and smooth. Flavors are complex and blended well. Toasted malt, chocolate, coffee, spice and bean. Really good and herbal.

Thick black. Coffee and chocolate aroma. Taste is a mocha, coffee, some grassy hops and a long lasting bitterness. Cant taste any of that crazy shit they say is in here but it is a fine beer indeed

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle to pint glass
Cocoa, milk, coffee, and chili aromas. Pours a dark black with a thin, dark tan mottled head with moderate retention. Taste is coffee, molasses, soy, bread, then changing to a sourness and ending with roast wood and grassy bitterness. Much later, as the bitterness recedes a nice warmness arises in the mouth. I can’t say that the almond milk, beans and avocado leaves make much of an appearance, but it doesn’t really matter much as this is quite good.

Maybe I got a duff bottle but this was as gross as licking a dog’s nuts. Deeply astringent with more than a touch of Baby Bio about it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma is mocha, vanilla bean, espresso, chocolate and almond. Deep rich malts to boot. Taste is again rich and complex malts complete with caramel and chocolate. A light hop presence here that is well balanced and fitting. Appearance is black with a dark brown head that retains very well. Great beer.
