3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Borresteijn (3681) - Amsterdam, - JUL 13, 2012On tap at Beer Temple. Black, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, milk chocolate, light spice. Flavour is medium sweet, milk chocolate, roasted malts, light chili, cocoa, light bitter chocolate and roast finish, hint of spice. Maybe served a bit too cold, but I found this to be quite muted for a spice beer. Light to medium-bodied.

Bottle. It pours a black body and a finger-thick, dense, tan head. Roasted malts, dark sugar, licorice hints, smoke notes, chili and a spiced, peppery hint. Grassy notes in the far back. Smoked, bonfire-like flavor with a touch of chocolate and chili. Not much burn, would like a bit more actually. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Cocoa, bonfire and dark sugar in the finish. Certainly a nice one, a pity the flavor isn’t as pronounced as the aroma. 130614

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 timfoolery (904) - California, USA - JUN 13, 2013
Bottle shared with Dodgrblu. Aroma was of chocolate, coffee, and super-concentrated mole. Flavor was similar with more bitter chocolate and some of the listed ingredients. Some chili, roasted black beans, and, dare I say, avocado leaves (what the hell do these even taste like?). Amazing retention considering the contents and quantity of ingredients in this one. Palate was rather bitter for my taste and it was "kitchen sink"-like. Still, a pretty good beer.

22 ounce bottle from Hot City Pizza, tastes like a stout, finishes porteresque. Lots going on, but one of the better Mikkellers I've had.

Beautiful beer. Dark Brown head. Smells like a double imperial stout. Taste us much lighter yet still very flavorful. Chocolate, lactose and chili. Really interesting.

20130605 Fucking hell Walt. I’m so utterly pissed that you’re gone. We talked about Ween and fishing and fishing with .33 of Ween, Mickey; the one who isn’t also dead and the other one who can’t control himself don’t fish. We talked about stupid people and smart people. We talked about beer and the beer community and how proud we are to have been part of or witness to so many of our friends’ successes, including your own. This beer is predictable despite the fancy label, but you never were. I’m gutted from losing you, and I regret the times we could have spent together had our lives not gotten in the way. RIP friend. I’ve got some old, and older, and too strong, and probably too sweet for me beers hanging in the cellar for the next time we meet. I hope they age well, and that we will still have the chance some day to crack these dinosaurs and laugh about what a jackass I had been for...well...whatever you decide to pick on me for that day. I know you will, you son of a bitch.
