Heller, trocken grasig hopfiger Antrunk. 12/10/11/10/7/11

5.2% ABV. American Pale Ale. Poured out a beatiful amber blonde color. 12ºSRM. The nose is full of estery over-ripe fruit with a beautiful ripe pineapple aroma like when the fruit is turning orange. Very nice clean malty sweet nose. There is the aroma of grape laden with fructose and ready to pop. The grape-y nature of the nose can I suppose be attributed to the use of Nelson-Sauvin hops. Dry hopped perhaps in an homage to this very well-balanced brew’s American roots. Aggressive carbonation. Elevating the palate. I’ve noticed of late that Mikkeller has been doing that and using carbonation to elevate what would otherwise be a ponderous experience into something light, happy and well, for the want of a better word, gay! This makes for a an entirely different beer experience. Instead of appreciating the more gravid malty, starchy and well-roasted flavor notes, you appreciate more of the ephemeral transiently vapor-laden tasting experiences like the aroma of a fresh toast that rides on the vapor rising from fresh wheat toast, the steam coming from a freshly broken loaf of black bread and the ester-like aromas that come from off of a freshly sliced open pineapple, jackfruit or or passionfruit. Just beautiful. Nice pronoucned hop presence with good pine, grass, and then a long slide of bitter, herbacesous hops that are reminiscent of a passover meal with bitter herbs. So very good and so very well balanced. Goes on Favorites List! Big time!!
